Thanks to all of you! You guys have really helped obliterate our expectations! With less than 3 hours to go, please rack your brains and think of anyone you know who might help us cross the $3000 mark. Again, thank you all soooooooo much!

Hi everyone,
First off, thank you so very much for your support! As of this point, we've more than doubled the minimum dollar amount we set out to raise. Of course, we'd sure like to keep on going! We're hoping to raise $3000, and at this point we're only $400 away from that goal. There's 36 hours to go. At 11:59 pm October 31, we're all done! Now, you've all done your part financially, but I hope you will consider letting a friend or two know about these last hours of the campaign, so we can meet this goal. You can send them to this link:

Again, thank you all so much! Check out the new Danielson Project Series video at http://weathervanemusic.org/projects (psst! Some of you will see your names in the end credits!)

Hi Folks,
So thank you all for your support through this our first active fundraising campaign. We have 3 more days, and in the last hours, we have a new incentive to upgrade your pledge!
Scott McMicken of Philadelphia's most cherished band, Dr. Dog, has agreed to play a live solo performance at the Pre-show VIP Party November 12. The VIP Party is at an undisclosed location (in other words, it is NOT at Johnny Brendas where the show is later that night). For those who donate at the $250 level we have this very special, limited edition package:
$250 gets you:
2 tickets to Weathervane Music's Year End Concert Fundraiser
2 tickets to the Pre-Show VIP Party featuring Dr. Dog singer, Scott McMicken
1 limited edition, hand screened Commemorative Poster, signed by all the performers and artists that night (these will be shipped in time for the holidays)
So there it is! Tell your friends! Help us clear $3000! That'd be most excellent!

Well, folks, it's been a great week. Katonah and I made it down to Washington DC earlier in the week for the Future of Music Coalition's annual Policy Summit. There we met Yancy Strickler, the man who founded and heads up Kickstarter, and we saw and participated in several important panel discussions and debates about several laws and trends affecting musicians and the music industry.
But while we were there, there was great news: I learned that Weathervane Music will receive Matching Funds in 2010 from El Paso Natural Gas. Joan Saldago, a past Weathervane supporter, and participant in our current Kickstarter fund drive has just informed us that she submitted Weathervane as a potential El Paso Natural Gas employee giving campaign recipient for 2010, and guess what? It was approved!
So who's gonna top that! Let's hope there's more of this to come! For those of you who have already pledged, we thank you on behalf of the many great artists we will support in 2010. If you work at a company that has a similar Employee Giving/Matching Funds program, PLEASE CONSIDER SUGGESTING WEATHERVANE MUSIC! THis is not only a great way to raise money, but it also helps us raise awareness outside of our conventional circles as well!
As you know we're setting our goal for this campaign at $3000. We've got about 22 days to reach that goal, so please help us spread the word!

Wow! I am so excited to announce that WE CROSSED OUR MINIMUM $1000 GOAL THIS MORNING! So, what that means is this Weathervane Fundraiser is officially "Successful" according to Kickstarter! When October 31 has come and gone, we will be funded!
This is a major success, to know that with 40 days still to go, we've already made it! At this point, any amount of money beyond the $1000 goal we set to get us through the end of this year will go toward getting our 2010 Project Series off the ground. So ...
Let's crush this goal! If you haven't pledged, please do. Any amount from $1 on up helps. If you have pledged already, THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts, and please tell your friends about Weathervane by sending them this link:

Thanks, again, everyone. This is a FIRST for Weathervane!
Yours truly,

WEATHERVANE MUSIC is a new non-profit community working with amazing independent musicians to support and advance their careers. We work with select groups of independent musicians each year, and we intend to do it every year, for many to come.
Our efforts revolve around a program we call the WEATHERVANE MUSIC PROJECT SERIES, a curated series of audio and video recordings featuring the artists, their music and artfully produced video of the actual recording sessions that went into making that music.
For each project, the artists’ vision and various details of the production process are the primary subject matter of the video productions presented on our website. We hope that over time this will become a powerful spotlight, providing great exposure for the project, the artists, studio production crew, as well as the creative video artists, and other participants in the series. Beyond all else, we hope The Project Series will enlighten the public about the hard work, the planning, creative processes and techniques that go into great works of art in music.
THE 2009 PROJECT SERIES, curated by Weathervane Founder, Philadelphia musician and producer, BRIAN MCTEAR, features single song recording projects and videos from Austin Texas' SUNSET, Philadelphia's EAST HUNDRED and BC CAMPLIGHT. The series wrapped up in late October with a project from the great Southern New Jersey band, DANIELSON. Check out what we've got so far: http://weathervanemusic.org/projects .
The 2010 Series, is currently in the works, and it is looking like it will be AWESOME! (stay tuned...)
Today, there is a profound need for all of us to ACTIVELY SUPPORT THE MUSIC WE LOVE. The Weathervane Community sees what it does as a cultural investment, and a model for how other organizations can do the same. If we don’t make this investment, careers in music will become limited to a privileged class of the independently wealthy, rather than the most sophisticated artists.
