A quirky, dark comedy about the demolition of a bowling alley by a greedy female developer to make way for a gambling casino.

What is “We’ve Got Balls?”

It is a quirky, comedic yet heartwarming 90-minute feature film about a bowling alley in a small town—Fountain Springs—that serves as the community centerpiece (it may be out in the middle of nowhere, but prides itself on being somewhere) for all the goings-on for the 365 people who live in that desolate town. Though it is the mainstay of the community, Fountain Bowl is about to be demolished and replaced by a gambling casino. Does the mayor play both sides against the middle? Is there an unusual plot to save the place? Who wins: The greedy developer or the bowlers of Fountain Bowl? Full of oddballs and bowling balls, we soon find out who’s got real balls!

What a cast!

The film is due to star Gary Austin, creator and founder of the world-famous L.A. Groundlings (playing the mayor) and Andrew Dickler (“Douchebag” 2010, who plays the entire city council and the alley’s bowling instructor). The cast will also be comprised of many others—some well-seasoned actors, others real people. Director and screenwriter, Cherie Kerr, also a founding member of the L.A. Groundlings and founder of the Orange County Crazies sketch and improvisational comedy group, brings together a fun-filled cadre of performers to flesh out this fun, comedic thriller—an entertaining story.

What’s the deal?

Hopeful that the film will go into production by early Fall 2012, the film seeks to raise a budget of $140,000.00. Those who help to back the film through Kickstarter have many choices to participate. Seems like a small budget, yes, but this movie can be done! Remember “The Little Engine That Could?” Well, there’s a wonderfully enthusiastic machine behind this little Indie gem. We just need a load of lucky strikes to reach the goal. And, if we raise more money than what we are asking we will certainly use it wisely.

Where does the money go?

Every penny goes directly into financing the film’s costs. Funds will be designated to cover every line item in the budget.

What’s in it for you?

It depends on how much you want to pledge! Our perks run the gamut from digital download packages to Executive Producer Credits and more.

When will the film premiere?

Should we raise the funds by our deadline, and barring any difficulties, the film will premiere to a closed audience in fall, 2013.We will notify all those who participated and make sure the big pledgers are notified well in advance of the sneak preview party.

Will the film make the film festival circuit?

Yes, we intend to enter those festivals that are appropriate for this comedy.

When will the film be released?

That depends on the film festival circuit progress and also any pending distribution deals.

How will the production team get my contact information?

We will provide an email address where you can send your contact information to us, including your phone number, street address and email address.Once we cross our deadline and if we are successful in meeting our budget goal, we will begin to produce all the merchandising materials and also get your specifications for the T-shirt size, etc.At that time, please respond to us as soon as possible so we can fill your Associate Producer commitment. Also, with regard to appearing in the film, we will provide shoot dates to you and coordinate the part you will play. We certainly hope your availability matches our shooting schedule!

Can you gift your pledge to someone else?

Yes. Once you provide the name and contact information for that recipient, we will gladly pass the incentives on to someone else. After our deadline, we will send a message to you on Kickstarter. We will gather information from you at that time, such as T-shirt size and so on.

May I increase my pledge once it’s been made?

Yes, you certainly may. Once you donate to our campaign, you can change your incentive reward to a different amount/status. To do so, go to Kickstarter and sign in. If you go to our campaign page, the “Manage your donation” it will allow you to upgrade. You can click there and enter a new amount as you choose a new incentive package.

What happens if the money isn’t raised in time?

Sadly, nothing. In other words, no money changes hands if we do not meet our financial goal by the specified date. You can continue to track our progress—just as we will—by checking our posting.

Can we exceed our goal?

Absolutely.Kickstarter will allow as much money as is given up to the day we reach the stated deadline. That certainly increases our potential in terms of more film festivals, additional widespread promotion, exposure and the like. We would be delighted to exceed our goal since we’re attempting to make this film on a very low-budget budget.
