About this project

Larry the LARPer follows our nerdy hero-in-waiting as he throws off the doldrums of his everyday life and navigates between newly discovered semi-reality and semi-fantasy worlds. Adventure, action, silliness and peril lurk around every corner as Larry explores his new Live Action Role Playing (LARPing) world and brings other willing and sometimes unsuspecting LARPers with him.  We love Larry and his quirky cohorts, which is evident in the passion with which we tackle the series. The webseries is as enjoyable to watch as it is to make; the story is witty and engaging, and the action sequences are, well, action-packed.

Our team brings a high level of production quality to the series by utilizing HD photography and high grade sound and digital editing processes. The cast and crew are well disciplined and well trained. Quality fight choreography, imaginative costuming and diverse set locations bring added strengths to the series.

Funds raised through Kickstarter will be used to acquire additional props, theatrical weapons and costuming needed to complete the first season of the series. Equipment and supplies already acquired are sufficient for the first few episodes of the series, but future episodes will add cast members who will need apparel and weapons – and really, can ever have too many weapons? The cast and crew volunteer their time and efforts to get the series started – except for needing lots and lots of pizza.

Filming for the first episode begins in mid-October. The script, crew and cast are lined up to continue shooting three or four more episodes shortly thereafter. Additional episodes in the first season are planned and scripted, with enough flexibility remaining to allow Larry and his fellow LARPers’ characters to evolve.

The primary collaborators on the project are David Miller, the director and fight choreographer, John Bond, the writer, and Daniel Suffield, the director of photography.  In addition, we have about 12 talented core cast and crew members involved in the first several episodes of the series, with many additional actors and crew members available and clamoring for an opportunity to work on future episodes.

Connected as David Miller (424 friends)

I, David Miller, am launching my first Kickstarter project with the webseries Larry the LARPer. This project draws on training and experience I’ve acquired in many different fields of study. I am currently wrapping up my Bachelors Degree in film at the University of Kansas. Over the last year I’ve invested heavily in video production, editing and sound equipment to pursue independent film production. But that’s not all: I am trained in stage combat, have studied historical sword fighting for years and years, and have extensive martial arts training. This webseries provides a rich opportunity to work with an amazing team of passionate and talented actors and crew to bring Larry to life, with all his eccentricities, dreams, fears and bravado. We hope you will enjoy Larry and his motley crew in this witty and exciting new webseries, and we would ever so much appreciate your support.
