Thank you everyone! New "rewards...."
I am very deeply touched at the generosity of each member of this consortium. It is really an honor to write music for such a special instrument, and to know that there are so many individuals and organizations who love the saxophone as much as I do.
As an expression of appreciation, I will have a comp ticket for those of you who wish to attend the debut performance of Poet and Peasant, tentatively scheduled for May 14 at the Southern Oregon University Music Recital Hall. More details to come!
And, I will be inviting the members of this consortium to "select" the next piece I'll be arranging for saxophone orchestra. If you have a favorite, please share it here - I look for works that aren't already available, and prefer music from prior to 1923 because of copyright restrictions. Music published after that time requires a sizable fee paid to the copyright holder (this usually exceeds $500). And, some composers (such as John Williams, composer of Harry Potter and Star Wars and many other film and tv scores) do not give those permissions at all.
So, think about it, and send me your ideas. I'll compile a list and send you a link so that you can place your vote!
Thanks again, and please keep the word out for others to join our consortium - we've got just shy of a week remaining.
Best wishes,
Vicki

The ideas are starting to pour in - among the pieces "nominated" for my next major project are Henry Fillmore's Lassus Trombone, Scott Joplin's Overture to Treemonisha, and a Mozart piano concert. Other thoughts?
