Charlie and Craig began recording music as Bears in the summer of 2005. Our self-titled album happened almost by accident in about eight months and went on to receive praise from publications like Skyscraper, Alternative Press, Amplifier, and Impose Magazine, among others. The record also received some decent college radio play, hitting #94 on the CMJ Top 200.
Right after that album came out, we expanded to a six-piece for live shows with our friends Jared, Shannon, Rachel and Patrick. Touring has since taken us around most of the country.
Our 2008 album, Simple Machinery, was self-released in the US, and Fastcut Records (The Pains of Being Pure at Heart / Acid House Kings) released it in Japan with 6 bonus tracks.
Now, three years later, after one of us remodeling a house and the other starting and finishing grad school, we are ready to release another record. Please join us.
Hey Hermia! I hope you like it...
Got the parcel today. Cool!
Go Bears
Hey Dylan, It would be fun to play in KC again. We've been there twice, and it's one of our favorite towns for shows. We'll see what happens when the album comes out... thanks!
I love you guys, but I've only ever heard your recordings. Please come to Kansas City! :)
Thanks, Jesiah! We're still here, although other parts of life have kept us busy for the past couple years... but we are really excited about this new album and getting back in touch with everyone.
this makes me so happy. i hadn't heard anything from bears in awhile and i was beginning to worry.
