10 Books That Make A Difference
10 stories written by elementary students that we illustrate and turn into books.
THE PROJECT

There are so many students who, due to various circumstances, believe that school has nothing to offer them. They search for their validation in one destructive way or another. If we can help validate their creativity and show them concrete evidence of their personal worth, we may be an influence in helping to shape their future. The Imagination Machine plans to take 10 stories written by elementary school students that need a little encouragement to show them school has something to offer them. We will edit the stories, have them professionally illustrated and publish them as hard cover books free of charge for the students selected. With your help we can make a positive difference in their lives.

The Imagination Machine - Who We Are
For the past 30 years, The Imagination Machine has been encouraging elementary school students in their creative writing process. We take stories their teachers have submitted to us and our professional actors perform them and our pianist underscores them. The students see their own stories come to life. The reason we decided to pursue this project was because at the end of one performance while the students were receiving their writing achievement awards the principal was in the back of the auditorium becoming very emotional. When asked about it, she said, "You don't understand. There are 2 boy up there who's parents are trying to keep out of a gang and they are only 9 years old. Here they are standing in front of his fellow students being recognized for their work. They felt there was nothing in school for them and here they are getting an award. And just look at the pride on their faces." This is why we are doing this project and hoping that it will blossom into a gift that we can share with other students. With your help we can make a difference in the lives of children.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Our biggest challenge will to keep the costs low on the project. The biggest budget item is the illustrator. We hope to get a library of reusable illustrations to balance out the cost.
