Called before HUAC during the notorious Hollywood 10 investigation, famed German playwright Bertolt Brecht flummoxes his questioners.

Witness 11 is a short film about the testimony of renowned German author, Bertolt Brecht, during the height of 1940s communist investigations. This black-and-white fictional film draws upon historical events to explore the justice-thirsty courtroom through the eyes of one of the accused.

An ambitious undertaking, Witness 11 will be shot on several RED cameras in Berkeley, California. Period costumes and props are part of the production scope that require additional budget.

I'm writer/director Sean Mitchell, and I am creating Witness 11 to demonstrate a successful track record in order to produce a screenplay that I wrote called “The Last Duel in Scotland”, which won a top 10 finalist award in the American Zoetrope Screenplay Contest, judged by Francis Ford Coppola.

Witness 11 will be shot in March 2012. Funds will go towards post-production efforts:Editing, visual effects, musical score, sound mix, 2nd unit shooting, etc.  It will be completed in 2012 (assuming we get these funds!).

One of the production props – a Shure 55sh microphone. This is a modern version of the Shure 55 “Elvis” microphone. While not antiques, these mics are more than just props, they were used during filming to record the actor’s voices during the hearing room scene (and are seen on screen.) They are working microphones. A short video message from Sean addressed to you. Daily inspirational Brecht quote emailed to you for one month. One of the production props – a 1940s era Graflex Speed Graphic press camera w/ flash attachment. These cameras are genuine antiques. Each camera is unique. Although the flashes work (as seen in the film) the shutter, aperture, etc. may not function properly. Their best use is as a decorative item. A short video message from Sean addressed to you.
