Help me write my second novel.
Project by Brendan Mackie
Project by Brendan Mackie
So, folks, it's been about 24 hours since I've made this page, and I must say I am amazed by the response so far. 169 dollars! Pretty unimaginable, eh?
The Awl has given Kickstarter a write-up: http://www.theawl.com/2009/04/you-can-be-a-patron-of-the-arts-for-one-dollar
Guess who the poster-boy is?
If anyone wants a copy of my first novel early, shoot me an e-mail at brendan (dot) mackie (at) gmail (dot) com and I will send you the PDF.
If you like it, why don't you tell your friends about this project? Perhaps--maybe--they might pledge some cash, too.
Yours,
Brendan

You get a PDF of the novel, when it's finished. (I'll be finished by December 31st, 2009)
You get a PDF of the novel, when it's finished. (It'll be finished by December 31st, 2009 at the latest.) AND you get a PDF of my first novel, the Journey of the Prospect, right now! It's a cool post-apocalyptic steampunk adventure set in the Mississippi basin.
You get BOTH books, AND I will write you a fake fact, to your specifications. (See http://bmackie.blogspot.com/search/label/facts for examples of my facts.)
You get the books, of course, plus I will name a minor character whatever you want. Within reason. No Purpledick McStinkblossom or anything.
The books, plus I will write you a short story, not under 1000 words, about anything you want at all.
You get to name one of the major characters in the novel. Within reason. And--guess what? You still get the books.
I will become your personal writing monkey for a month. I will write anything you want, every day. Short stories, poems, college or high school essays, blog posts, grant applications, screenplays, your biography, the biography of your cat, homemade ghost stories for the kids, anything. I can just help with research, even. If you don't have any preference for what written material you want on a given day, I will just write something I think you will find amusing. I will also be your penpal, and be available for phone-calls whenever. The only limitation is that the work can't exceed four hours each day. And of course you get the books. Think of what your friends would say! They’d be pretty jealous, I think!
