We've launched an exciting new project of our own! Introducing the Kickstarter app for iPhone!

A 55 minute film in 1950's b-movie sci-fi style parodying the social network that everyone likes to use and loves to hate, Facebook.

The trailer above is a glimpse into what is likely the future: Facebook stealing the souls of people and the president having to turn off the Internet. Okay, probably not. But that’s the beauty of parody, and that’s what we’re going to make: a 55 minute film in 1950's b-movie sci-fi style parodying the social network that everyone likes to use and loves to hate, Facebook.  Like may be a strong word.

What's the plan?

We have a 3 week shooting schedule set to begin on August 29th.  We plan on beginning the set builds on August 15th.  We are currently wrapping up securing our final shooting locations.  Props and costuming have already started, and we’re doing final casting through July.

Our goal is to have the film ready for viewing in by October 31st (a scary film released on Halloween...original ya?).

What we've got

The script is currently done, penned by James Duvall and Justin Ribeiro. The film is based on the concept conceived by David Steele.

In terms of gear, we’re actually pretty happy with what we have. We’re got a little bit of modern gear (a Canon XL2, a decent set of lenses, some audio gear and booms) and we’ve got some kick ass old stuff (a few Super 8’s, some film stock, and some older lighting gear).  We're well versed in using the gear we have to get the results we want. Your investment isn't buying us new toys, you're investing in making this film.

Mr. Steele is donating about 2,000 square feet from his art studio so that we can build the sets.  We have a dedicated crew of 14 people who have already helped with the making of the trailer and are excited to get started on the production.

What we need

This is where you come in Kickstarter investors. Every dollar donated goes into the production costs of the film we simply can’t fully cover ourselves.  Buying lumber for the sets, bringing in more props, buying more tape and film stock, costumes, more lighting. Some of the dollars donated will also go to post-production costs, such as creating DVD’s, paying for the supplies so we can get you some cool swag to you the investor, and probably Diet Pepsi (a mainstay beverage in our editing sessions).

Where is the film headed?

The film will be released online after completion for everyone to see; we want people to laugh, and the film can’t do that if it’s sitting collecting dust. We have plans to rent a small local theater to show a premier of the film, and would like to see the film play at festival or two.

Storyboards

As seen at the end of the above film, we have a few storyboards available for viewing. We don't want to release them all...it sort of gives away the good stuff.  For those who didn't see them at the end of the above movie, they're reproduced here.

Thank you!

Many thanks to everyone for reading!  If you have questions or comments, please let us know!
