From the Standells soon-to-be-released album, here is a sample of "7 & 7 Is". The song is sung by Larry Tamblyn (keyboards), with Standells members Mark Adrian on guitar, Greg Burnham on drums and John Fleckenstein on bass. Ironically, John was a member of Love who originally recorded this song.

"7 & 7 Is" made it to # 37 on the charts (the highest any Love song ever reached). It has been covered by several groups including the Ramones, Alice Cooper, and Rush, but from what we've heard none really re-captured the energy and drive that was in the original song. The Standells set out to do that, but also to make the song uniquely ours. Of course, it helped to have John Fleckenstein (who participated in the original) with us in the studio and playing the bass. As John correctly pointed out, the drums are the key to the song. You'll hve to decide if we succeeded!

We are pleased to say that the first Standells album in over 45 years will be released around the end of May. We listened to the CD master today, and can honestly say it will be one of the best Standells albums ever! We intend to fulfill our Kickstarter obligations shortly before the album's release. Thanks for your patience!

Our first new album in over 45 years is close to completion! After a series of detours, we have managed to go back to work in the Standells garage studio, and will be recording the last song this week. We must say this will be one of the best Standells albums ever. GRA Records hopes to release the CD in March. We will fulfill our Kickstarter obligations sometime before then!

The Standells will be appearing at one of No. California’s largest nightspots, the Uptown in Oakland, CA, November 17th. The group features three original members; keyboardist/singer Larry Tamblyn, percussionist/singer Dick Dodd & bassist John Fleckenstein, plus guitarist/singer Mark Adrian and drummer Greg Burnham. B there or B square!!!!

BTW: We are still working on the album and intend to have it finished by the end of the year. Since Dick Dodd has re-joined the Standells, he will be signing several of the new songs!
