@Vak, liquipel is not waterproofing. It simply helps prevent accidental dropping of the device into water. One still is highly recommended to e.g not submerge the device (or even shower with it) intentionally..

It should take less than an hour to ask one of their engineers how much RAM the watch has, what the screen resolution actually is, etc. Until all those are answered, until video is shown that the watch actually works in some capacity (3-4 months is the polishing phase not the development phase), and until the Z3 is shown to be a copy of this watch and not the other way around, there is still no reason to trust this project.
I also don't see what you could threaten the chinese companies with since a) you have no patents and b) China is notorious for ignoring copyright and patent laws and has copied military and industrial designs from many countries.

@Anurag - Are you joking? They took a day and then some, and come back and answer 0 of our questions. So far they've shown us a picture of a date on some piece of paper, and text that might be from a provisional patent application, which is cheap and doesn't actually do anything to secure a patent. Then they showed some images, none of them real, that could have been easily gathered/shopped/compiled in the day they've had.

Out of necessity they made a sharp turn, and changed to a "pimp my Chinese generic watch" project.
It wouldn't have been so bad if it was stated as such from the beginning.

@Stephen - It proves nothing. It's not a patent, or even an application for a patent. So someone else could still jump in and take the patent rights. Which conveniently means they can't disclose the full details of what the patent is for. The picture itself is a joke. At least provide a blacked out picture with the law office name and logo visible and some signatures of something. Nothing at all official in the photo to say it's anything but a date creator printed out.

In all fairness, I know nothing about patents and all that jazz, but Update #2 proves or solves nothing for me. How do we even know what that is for? I have a feeling this project will end up cancelled by KS in the near future, but I'm keeping my pledge in the hat for now. This is smelling fishier by the minute sorry to say.

You say several times in the front page that you have patented features. If they were patented you would be able to link us to a copy of the patent, as the rights would already be owned by you, and they would have to be public knowledge so other companies could avoid infringing on them. But the "proof" you provided is for a provisional patent, which does not mean you have the patent, or even have applied for the patent yet. So why lie about having all these patents?

For me a re brand product that you can buy in China for 30-50usd is not a KS project.
A KS project is something that you are building from A to Z and behind a professional team that know to answer and dont just put spec that dont know even what it is !!! 4GB of Ram when i see that I jock so hard.
We are the backers we need to be respect and dont just laugh in our face.

I would also like to point out that Kickstarter DOES NOT guarantee projects will give you rewards. The only thing you can hope for is you can submit a complaint to amazon up to 60 days after you make the KS payment and they will get you your money back. For projects longer than that like this one, you are out in the wind. KS has let plenty of scam projects finish, and some have even gotten funded. I have one project that took my money, kept updating with excuses for the couple months needed for Amazon not to accept complaints, then bounced off into the sunset. KS can remove projects, but rarely do so. After funding though, they can't do anything. They take their 10% cut or whatever and walk away. Besides pursuing legal action yourself, after that guarantee window with amazon, your money is gone, and you are at the mercy of the project creator.
This is why you need proof like patent numbers, videos of actual prototypes, real technical specs not "marketing" specs. We aren't trying to bash Vak, we are trying to warn you of things that make no sense, and indicate you need to be wary of the fact you might never get something for your money.

I appreciate your input and suspected you had more than one account. I expected your account to be attacked for its lack of backer history and age. Please indicate why you believe some of the pictures here have been modified.

I have noted that this project has a lot of new accounts that have been participating. I am glad to see flks jump on the Kickstarter bandwagon. It's ... an experience.

@Vak From my humble perspective I'll sum up my concerns:

1] Don't have a problem with reworking or improving an existing product if one is upfront about it. Ultimately you are just putting together parts that already exist [CPU, memory chips, resistors, etc]. Everyone has access to the Legos, it's what you build with them that adds value.

If you you take someones product, add a few features then call it your own...there is where my issue exists.

I have considered that your IP was taken from you and Z3 is the one screwing with you...but don't have any data and don't expect a ton if you've involved lawyers. They'll typically tell you to shut your mouth. Time will tell.

A lot of these pictures I looked at do not have EXIF data but a few show signs of modification [I am not a photoshop expert but can hold my own with a lot of folks]. That, in itself, doesn't mean a great deal but is something I consider.

2] Lots of ambiguity in terms of specs. I've already gone over this so I won't do it again.

I'm hanging around for the explanation -- I would love for this project to be a success...part of this journey will be dealing with the obstacles and I hope to learn a lot from this team based upon how they face adversity!

I don't think any of you Vak supporters understand how big 4 GB of RAM is... My galaxy s4 has TWO GB of RAM... The watch does not need, and will not need in the next 5 years, 4 GB of RAM. It would be wasted and barely implemented.
Vak clearly does not know what the 4GB + 4GB refers to, and knowing the RAM of your device is one of the main points any marketing person should know...
Same with the 1080p... Also OLED is expensive screen. The Vita recently switched to LCD because OLED drove up the price, and only Samsung makes it.
When someone shows you pictures of a product identical to a chinese product, tell you he's been working on it for YEARS, then puts absurd specs for prices where they'd be losing money if they were making these as a small company in the US, and doesn't even know stats like RAM... I don't know what they're trying to pull, but this project is more than a little fishy.

"Tonya" (or whatever your real name is). This "collaboration theory" of yours just makes this seem even more farce-like.. If this was the case (that they source Appscomm for hardware) then it should have been clearly stated in the campaign instead of "we have been developing an watch for years" which is obviously, at best, a stretch of the truth. If all they are doing is rebranding an existing product then this is by default a project that should not even exist on Kickstarter.

Again - I am letting Vak have his say when they wake up in the west coast, but I felt something was not right already from the start and all that came up during the last 24th just made me very skeptical that this is a legitimate project.

Burden of proof is on the person who wants our money based on faith alone (Vak Sambath).

3.In your project you show us a picture of a board of the watch, but this board not corresponding of the watch board, how this board have a place for 2 buttons and your watch that you are presenting have 1 button ?? and many more that i will not enter in it because its seem to me that you dont understand anything about your project or on smartwatches.... strange for a person that develop it or pretend to develop it its sound to me better !
4.You show in your project a screen (Pebble style) but the screen of your watch is a 1.54 inch so how the screen of testing are smaller, different and not in color ?
5.For the QI charger if from Appscomm(Chinese company) they tell you it is possible dont believe them its just an advise for you, it will never work due to the back of this watch.
6.You are writing in the "UP AGAINST THE COMPETITION Table" that you have a 1.54 Oled ?? Did you know that a Oled screen only Samsung produce it and its starting from 1,63.
7.High definition 1080P how you get to that on a poor TFT screen with 240X240 ?
Every time that I see this project more and more I find it to much like a scam sorry!!
Hope that you will answer to all my questions and not try to answer one like you are trying to do with all the other backers!!!!

The smartwatch that you are presenting is a poor Chinese smartwatch that is calling the Z3, she came out in China one year ago with no success due to the Bluetooth connection problems with smartphones, the Z3 cost around 30$ on bulk quantities, the spec of this cheap smartwatch are far like you are pretending, very disappointing also to see that you lie to all of us and pretending for long years that your team develop it.
Take good examples of Pebble, Agents, Omate this guys real work and develop a smartwatch!!!!
Shame of you and your Team very frustrated that Kickstarter dont do anything and allow this types of projects!!
Next time try to do your homework and be logical with the spec, 4GB of Ram ?? what you are joking on backers ? 4GB of memory ? For your record this poor Chinese smartwatch have 2GB of memory and 256mb of Ram it is Running on Android 4.1 and not 4.2!! Oled screen?? 1080P ?? What are you dreaming ?? Even you dont know how to explain what is a resolution so you want Oled screen and 1080P on it ?? Vak please stop jock on us, not everybody are dumb!! For your knowledge the Z3 screen is 1,54 poor lcd. Its not possible to add QI charger on the Z3 due to his construction, the charger is a clip like the first Omate charger.
The App is also developed by the same Chinese company by the name of Appscomm dont confuse with the well known company Foxconn and they are far to finish the app for just receiving Text message.
Notifications such as Facebook, Email can be receive only by wifi and not like you are pretending by your smartphone like the Gear!! Next time also dont jock on others and do comparisons with Omate and the Neptune Pines that are far far away advanced from the Z3 specifications and features even the old good Pebble are better!!

It seems to me that they commissioned Appscomm for the basic infrastructure, hired American developers and designers.. and for all we know both companies (Rock and the Chinese company) are working and collaborating really hard to produce a better product..

I'm not in the world of manufacturing.. but collaboration for the sake of a better looking and functioning product is normal..

This is not high school anymore where you point out something wrong in the open.. this is real life where collaborations happen between international companies..

1.They contact Appscomm
2.They buy one Z3
3.They buy some cheap bands that you can see crystal clear that are not made for this watch and not fit correctly
4.They setup a nice project and pretend that develop this smartwatch for long years and a lot of investments.
But the problem here is they are not professional you can see that, Vak even dont know what are in his smartwatch ??!!??

@tonya really? you joined yesterday, backed only this product, and are lavishing on heavy support for vak? Gee I totally can't tell you're a plant.
this has nothing to do with the watch being made in China - most products on Kickstarter are manufactured in china, unless its stuff like CNC'd cases. The whole problem with this project is the very vague nature of it - lack of details, non-answers given by vak, questionable product origins (kickstarter forbids reselling products), the list is pretty long here.
