A continuation of the educational video project that teaches the art of graphic storytelling, also known as “comics.”
The purpose of the project is to increase the awareness of comics as a serious art form, and to teach processes and techniques that assist in the creation of effective graphic storytelling.

The instructor is award-winning writer/artist/illustrator P. Craig Russell. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a degree in painting, Russell has run the gamut in comics. After establishing a name for himself at Marvel on Killraven and Dr. Strange, he went on to become one of the pioneers in opening new vistas for this underestimated field with, among other works, adaptations of operas by Mozart (The Magic Flute), Strauss (Salome) and Wagner (The Ring of the Nibelung). His more recent work includes comic book adaptations of Neil Gaiman’s Coraline and The Dream Hunters.
The filmmaker is Wayne Alan Harold. A graduate of Kent State University with a degree in Telecommunications and Film, Harold has over two decades of experience in independent film and video. His most recent feature-length project, Night Music: The Art of P. Craig Russell, has had public screenings at The Cleveland Museum of Art and the Wexner Center for the Arts in Columbus. One of the most well-received portions of that production—Russell’s expert and engaging demonstrations of panel-to-panel storytelling—served as the genesis of the Graphic Storytelling educational series.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Two previous volumes of this project were successfully funded via Kickstarter and both projects were successfully completed, so we forsee no risks or challenges in successfully completing the third volume.
Earlier this year, the USPS increased postage rates an insane amount, especially in regards to foreign shipping. It now costs just under $30 to ship a single DVD and Study Guide to quite a few of our overseas backers (we previously charged $15 for shipping those same two items). As a result, we've had to increase our shipping rates for our non-U.S. backers. We hope that our foreign friends will understand this increase and continue to support this ongoing project.

That way we can ship Volumes 1 & 2 out to you right away and you won't have to wait until Volume 3 is produced. And of course, you'll then be certain to get the Volume 3 DVD and the Kickstarter-exclusive Volume 3 Study Guide when they're both ready in a few months.

With Volume 3, we're transitioning to primarily a DVD series, but since we've gotten inquiries, we are considering added a digital copy of Volume 3 as a possible "stretch reward" later in this campaign. The digital copy would come on a data DVD so it would have to be shipped, but it would be included with all pledge levels of $30 or more. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to our minimum goal!
