About this project
I have been asked to produce a series of five paintings, which are inspired by the one-woman play "Unveiled" by Rohina Malik, a Chicago playwright. Each painting will represent one of the five Muslim women portrayed by Malik in her stereotype-breaking play. These paintings will also accompany Rohina in future productions of the play.
Since my paintings are hand-made, highly intricate, and labor intensive, I will need help to complete them in a short period of time. Since these paintings will be larger than the normal scale in which I work (approximately 30 x 40 inches), I expect that they will be additionally challenging. I hope there is enough support out there to assist me in completing these paintings, thanks for all your help!
For those of you who are really interested in helping, here are some of my recent paintings, which are available for the highest contributors. Please notice the level of detail involved. All of my paintings are hand made, using acrylic paint on Masonite panels, augmented with pencil, inks and layers of glue for a translucent effect which may not be visible in the jpegs. I was born in Hanau, Germany in 1972. My family moved to Chicago in 1974. I studied Fine Arts at Northern Illinois University. I have considered myself an artist since the age of 4, and most of my art has been produced outside of any academic context.
I am a fine artist, but I also write and do children's book illustrations. I have illustrated several children's books, but this would be the first children's book which I have written and illustrated.
