My name is Jutiki Gunter and I am the founder of Robotics for Fun. At Robotics for Fun we teach students how to build and program robots. We started the program a number of years ago and we have worked with hundreds of students since then.
Over the years we have also worked with a number of robotic kits from companies like Lego, Vex and Parallax. The kit people are most familiar with are Legos. Our students have learned a lot and done some great work with these kits. In working with the students and seeing their specific needs we decided to make our own kit.
We needed a kit more flexible than the standard pieces you find in most kits and something students could continue working with as they advanced through the program. We put a design together, tested it with our students and they loved it! It is called the Grid Kit and the response has been incredible.

The Grid Kit is an 18” x 24” piece of corrugated cardboard. Laser cut onto the surface is a 1” grid. Within that grid are a series of x’s. As you design your project you are able to cut or pop out the pieces that you need. If you need a long or short piece you just cut it. You make what you need as you go along.
With the Grid Kit we are seeing staff and students design things and express themselves in ways not seen with any other kit. Your pledge will help us expand our product line and introduce a new kind of recyclable building kit to the world.

Jutiki Gunter is the founder of Robotics for Fun. Robotics for Fun has locations in Oakland and Mountain View, CA. He began teaching robotics at the Chabot Space and Science Center in Oakland. Jutiki has a Bachelors degree in Architecture from Cornell University and a Masters Degree in Architecture from Harvard University.
