About this project

UPDATE: We reached our minimum pledge goal in under 24 hours! Thank you so much to everyone who's pledged so far!
“Skin Horse is laugh-out-loud funny, in the way that the Marx Brothers were funny: It starts with something that is just barely plausible and then piles up incongruities into a massive, complicated structure built entirely of crazy.” --Brigid Alverson, Comic Book Resources

Somewhere in America (okay, Virginia) is a government agency dedicated to aiding and protecting America's nonhuman citizens. They're on the side of the monsters, the beast-men, the rogue robots. The team includes Sweetheart the talking dog and her faithful zombie Unity, a legless Victorian robot named Moustachio the Thinkonium, and token human staffer (and cross-dressing psychologist) Tip Wilkin. They're the shadow government, and they're here to help.

“I absolutely love every bit of Skin Horse from beginning to end!" --Sheena McNeil, Sequential Tart

My co-creator, Jeffrey C. Wells, and I have been writing and drawing Skin Horse as a daily webcomic for three years. Last year we published Skin Horse Volume 1, collecting the first year of strips. Now we want to publish Volume 2, collecting the year-long saga of the team's mission to Alaska to find some missing-and-presumed-eaten-by-monsters National Guardsmen. This volume will also include a 14-page bonus story unavailable anywhere else.

“You can jump in at any point and be up to speed in no time, but once you're hooked, there's nothing to be done but to go back to the beginning and read it all through again.” --Paul Haggerty, SFRevu.com

Since we started Skin Horse, Jeff and I have been amazed by the generous reaction from our readers. We get the coolest fan art and the snarkiest comments. The daily theme songs alone are a wonder to behold. Fan reaction to Volume 1 has been great, and we hope people are even more excited about Volume 2 (which is better than Volume 1, because Skin Horse is constantly getting better, and also because it has tons of cute dogs).

“I knew I was in trouble when the characters from Skin Horse started invading my dreams.” --Mark Schuster, Small Press Reviews

Want to make this happen? Fund the publication of Skin Horse Volume 2 through Kickstarter. Everyone who contributes funding will get their name listed in the Acknowledgments section of the book, plus incentives only available here.

With your help, we'll get Volume 2 published. And please spread the word. Thanks for your support!

International Orders: Please add $10 for shipping to your pledge of $20 and up. Thanks.

Copies of Volume One can be purchased right now through the Couscous Store.
