About this project
Que paso, and thanks for visiting my Kickstarter project page.
THE MOVIE
“Hank In Time” is a buddy movie about four guy friends who pull together to help their friend heal from losing his wife by building a time machine.
After his wife, Kira, dies unexpectedly, Hank goes a little crazy with grief and hatches a plan to build a time machine. Against their better judgment, his three best buddies pitch in, but the scheme unravels as his sanity comes into question.
My style of comedy blends the serious with the absurd – as you well know from my entertaining status updates if you’re my Facebook friend. (And if you’re not, click here to join the party.) This film brings real guy friendships to life, with honest and ridiculous results.
THE CAST
“Hank In Time” has a diverse cast, and I don’t mean that there’s a “sassy black friend.” I’m a Mexican-American filmmaker and it’s important to me that my movies reflect the world I see around me. It’s 2010; a black guy can be best friends with a Latino, and they don’t have to spend their entire screen time spinning stereotypes or talking about their differences.
I went for the best actors for the part, and I got them. (Check out this cast!)
THE BUDGET
I wrote “Hank In Time” specifically so it could be produced with absolutely no budget. This took the work of almost seven drafts, but we did it.
No rentals, no salaries, no awesome explosions. Well, maybe one 5 dollar explosion.
How am I going to do this? I’ve got an incredible team of local cast and crew who are contributing their talents to the film. Several friends are opening their garages, living rooms, and backyards for shooting locations. My DP and producers are loaning me their HD cameras, and a guardian angel is donating her lighting kit so our final product will be festival-ready. This movie will be shot entirely on weekends, since we all work full-time jobs during the week.
Of course, even “no budget” films cost some money. In this case, I need to buy food for my generous actors and crew, a few props, and supplies to build Hank’s Time Machine.
This is where you come in.
I’ve set a modest goal of $2,500 that will ease the financial pinch of making my first 90-minute feature film. Think about it – blockbusters like Avatar cost over $1,000,000 per minute. I’m making “Hank In Time” for $30 a minute. That, my friends, is a BARGAIN.
Your funding won’t just get us to production – it will get us through production, post-production, editing, and onto the platform for festival submissions.

I’m David Tuck, and I’m an easy guy to please. I love my motorcycle, smoking cigars, and I really really really love making movies. You’re here because I’m filming my first feature-length script, “Hank In Time” from February-March 2010.
I grew up in El Paso, TX, where, as a kid, I never thought I’d make a movie. There are very few film opportunities there; I didn’t know anyone who worked in the industry.
About 12 years ago, I moved to Austin, where I now work full-time and study filmmaking after hours with Steve Mims through Austin FilmWorks.
I’ve worked on 16 short films in two years, including the award-winning “Small Changes,” which won the Grand Jury Prize in the 2009 Intelligent Use of Water film competition. That film, plus my short film "Poor Mark," was screened at the Getty Center in Los Angeles.
I’m psyched to be starting my first feature-length film project, the big moment that every filmmaker dreams of.
