Fool your taste buds by eating Veggie chips that are healthy but also actually taste delicious. All natural, handmade goodness.
The Ott Family Farm presents Wunder Chips!
Ask anyone who knows me what my downfall is when it comes to food, and they will tell you potato chips. I can just hear the chips' little voices. “We are crunchy and salty. We taste so good.” What they forget to say is, “We will load your bloodstream with fat. We will clog your arteries and you will feel like crap shortly after you eat us.” I know all of this but the only thing I seem to hear is the little chips saying "eat me".
So I set out to find some alternatives that still satisfy that chip craving but aren't going to put me into an early grave. Thus, Wunder Chips were created. These chip alternatives still have all the crunch and deliciousness you crave but won't leave you swimming in a pile of fat and oil. See the potato chips go running, run little chippies, run.
What are Wunder Chips?
ah haa. So if you are reading this, you didn't watch the awesome video, which is your choice. (however, I do suggest watching it. I bribed some local actors and a videographer with chip & swag to help me with the video. Support the arts. Plus I must be super camera shy or something because it was super hard for me to tape and I made a complete fool out of myself at the taping and possibly drove the rest of the crew bonkers)
Are these fried/baked? How the heck are we making the chips?
Excellent question. These chips are neither fried nor baked. They are dehydrated. Why dehydration? It preserves more of the nutrients from the veggies. They still get nice and crispy.
Hundreds of hours, many unbiased taste tests with potential customers, and countless veggies were sacrificed in name of testing and perfecting recipes and finally we have our five initial Classic Flavors:
Go Squash Your Sauce
a zesty BBQ Squash Chip.

Flax Your Tomatoes
Imagine salsa in chip form. Tomato, garlic, bell pepper, onion all blended together with flax seed to make up a hearty, tasteful chip.
(available in mild or spicy)

Twanged Up Carrots
Carrot slices loaded with that unmistakenable twang that only a good mustard can provide.

For the more traditional tastes:
Fuel Your Body
A more classic Ground Corn and Bell Pepper Chip. Perfect for dipping.

I am not a Yam
All the classic flavor from Thanksgiving side dish rolled into a mouth-watering chip. Maple infused Sweet Potato Chips.

Hmm I'm interested, Tell me more about your ingredients...
I'm so glad you asked! We are partnering with some local CSAs (community supported Agriculture) to grow our tasty produce.
It's all from the state of Wisconsin. Organic when available.
Everything is hand picked peaked at the peak of freshness. Right down to tapping the trees to get the freshest Maple for our sweet potato chips.
You won't find anything closer to the actual farm unless you went and picked it yourself.
Let's not forget the bags!
We believe that the bags make the chips. We have sourced 100% biodegradable bags. Unlike most chip bags, these are resealable with a ziploc like closure.
Raise your hands if you've ever opened a chip bag and rolled it down when down and put it in your chip drawer. Umm me definitely. And then when I go back later to eat some, I typically find that the bag unrolled itself (magically, or possibly gremlins) and the chips inside are gross, soft and basically uneatable. Not with these bags!
You mentioned something about swag?
Okay yes there is swag, I couldn't resist. For those people who don't want chips but want to support us, or those who want chips and show their support!
We have 2 designs, designed by a good friend/great artist just for this Kickstarter rally.
You can choose either design and have it on a t-shirt or a tote bag, or both!
Shirts are available XS-3X. In either Women's fitted or Unisex (mens) sizing
Design 1:

Design 2:

The tote bags are 15"Wx16"Hx3"D.
And let's be serious here, of course both the shirt and the tote bags are 100% Organic Cotton.
Alright this sounds like you have it all together, why are you on kickstarter?
Help us grow! Literally.
Our Kickstarter pledge is 2 fold.
1:
We need to reserve spots with the local farms to grow our veggies. It's a lot to ask a farm that usually grows a little of a lot of stuff to adjust to a lot of just a few items. It takes a LOT of vegetables to fill just 1 bag. The end result is totally worth it though. Tasty.
2: Commericial kitchen rental fees. No I'm not just whipping these up in some back room in my house. We are only legit here at Wunder Chips, and as such will be renting an awesome commerical kitchen space to create our little chippy friends.
FAQs:
Allergies? Food Diets? What are you using?
Good question. We have food allergies in our family as well, so it's always great to ask. There is no dairy or nuts used in any of our products.
Recipes are also gluten free. Vegan/vegetarian friendly.
Why are these chips all different sizes?
Chips are made from actual out of the ground or off the plant veggies. No one piece is the same shape or size. So that yields chips of various sizes. Don't worry, they all are equally tasty!

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Challenge: as with every other food item, the main challenge is actually growing the produce. I don't know if everyone is aware but we had a huge drought this year up here in WI and that significantly affected availability and price of produce. That is why you aren't seeing my delish brown sugar apple chips on the menu. There are pretty much no apples to harvest this year.
Solution: I'm starting out with some drought sturdy veggies. Even in the rough weather of this year, these items flurished. I've also reached out to several farms in the state. While we are choosing to work with a select few that we were able to visit and verify their growing procedures, if there was ever a shortage of the crop, there are other farms around the state that are willing to chip (hehe) in an help us out with produce. Worse case scenario is sourcing outside the state (still in the USA) to find our product.
FAQ
-
Nada! There are no oils used in the making of these chips!
-
Excellent question everyone. I know the delivery of next year seems like ages away (for us too). However the chips are made from real veggies, and as such, they actually need to be grown! The snow is already starting to fly here, preliminary items like garlic need to be started now, but the other crops like Tomatoes won't grow until next year. We will try to get these to you as soon as possible to fill your bellies, but we can't rush nature!
