So here’s the deal...
Last winter we began work on our fourth LMVL album and it’s finally done…well almost.
We traveled to Brooklyn last summer and recorded an amazing record at Vacation Island Studios titled HEAT. Now we need your help to finish what we started and get this thing out into the world and into your homes!
We really took our time recording this record and making sure that everything sounded just right. Even though it has been in the making since fall of 2010, once things got rolling in the spring the record seemed to fly together in a wild whirlwind. Lucy went on a crazy summer-craving writing spree last winter and we ended up with some truly wonderful new songs.
Each time we record a new record it seems like we learn something that leads to better quality, better sounds and all around better music. We think that this is our best album yet, hands down! The studio recording learning curve shot up about a gazillion points while working in Brooklyn. We got the opportunity to work with producer and sound engineer Matt Boynton at Vacation Island studios and we had no idea what we were in for. Matt has worked with bands like MGMT and Beirut and he had all sorts of equipment and insight that helped shape our new sound. Matt's an expert on capturing old vintage sounds, hot sounds, with high gains and tube distortion. Needless to say he was a perfect fit with this record. We've been talking about electrifying our acoustic sound by using amps and pedals to get a larger old rock sound for a long time. Matt had and knew exactly what we needed and we can't wait to share the results with you.
We’re hoping to release this baby in late April 2012 and then tour it all around the country in the summer and fall. We want to share our music with as many folks as possible, so as part of this kickstarter we're hoping to raise funds to promote the record in print and radio in the places we visit. Touring is a tricky business and promoting shows in towns where we're not well known can make or break a show.

For folks who don't know about Kickstarter
Kickstarter is a pretty sweet resource for creative projects that get released into the world. In order for a Kickstarter project to be funded, it must reach its financial goal in a specified time period. For us that means raising $7,500 by February 28th. If the financial goal isn't reached, the project will not receive any funding and you, the donor, will not be charged. On the other hand, if the project exceeds its financial goal, we are able to make additions to their project and will continue to receive funds until the duration of the project has completed.
