Decidedly anti-hang-it-and-leave-it, Steven Johnson began this crusade with the realization that static or bare walls just ain't make no sense in this era of photographic excess. His background is in architecture.
Three weeks since your last update, and 4 months past your estimated delivery date. Steve, please keep us in the loop as to where this project stands....
Thanks
Any update?
Thanks for your words, Spencer. Pulling something from of the mess is no small order. Feels like we're round the bend here now.
steven, want to give you some encouragement. Its a lot of working bring an idea to production, and China is a mess to deal with most of the time. keep up the work, still waiting for mine :)
Fair enough, Barry. Keep an eye out.
Thanks Steven, It would be great if you could post an update in the next week or so... Two months is a long wait for one. I hope you can get this one piece figured out soon..
Yes, this is a challenge. I appreciate your wanting to have these in your hands. We are held up by one piece right now. It is close and it is coming. These will very much happen. Bear with me a bit more here. Thanks Barry.
Steve,
it's been 6 weeks since an update, and a few since your quick post here.. It is feeling like this is never going to happen... It was supposed to be in January, now it's almost the end of April, and it doesn't seen to be any closer to becoming a reality.. Could you please do an update and let us know when we can really expect to get our purchases?
thanks, for the news
Yes. I'm waiting on a further iteration of the wood pads. They are proving the most challenging piece to get made well. I'll be in touch with an update when I have those. Thanks.
any news?
Any new update? been almost 3 weeks since you posted anything .. Better communication would be appreciated.
Just posted. Thanks guys. -S
Update!
Update please.... thanks
Hello. It is March 2nd. I was wondering if we are any closer to receiving your product? Thank You.
New update just posted. Thanks.
Any updates?
Thank you for keeping us informed. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Yes. Manufacturing has been on hold in China for the past couple of weeks as they send folks home for their New Years holiday. Stay tuned as things will get moving again this week.
Hi Steven, do you have any news for us??
Steven, been almost a month without you posting any updates. Can you please let us know what is going on as the lack of communication and progress has me a little concerned.
Happy New Year, Barry. Yes, I'm holding off collecting addresses right now. I'm having some challenges sourcing a couple of the pieces and will post an update when I have more details. Thanks a lot for your patience.
Happy New Year.. There's been no communication for a few weeks and just wondering when you think you will be shipping these out as usually there is an email sent to ask for the shipping address.
Thanks, Barry
No worries. They will be available for order again just as soon as I can get these ready. I'll continue to post updates here but you can also sign up on thumbtiles.com to be notified when more are available. Thank you!
Yes... And I am sorry I missed it... I would have gone for both! I think this is a great idea Steven!! Congratulations on a job well done! I can't wait to get them!
Congrats Steven!
I sent a note over to you but I see you got it to go through. Thanks a lot, Stan!
I went for the 9 package.... I would like to add a 24 package.... Can I do that... In less then an hour...yikes
Sure can. Visit the project page: http://kck.st/uQb8ML, select 'Manage Your Pledge', and change your pledge amount at the top and your reward level down below. Thanks Serena!
I've pledged $40 before, is it possible to increase it to $80 now?
Steven,
Got these as a gift for my wife. I saw in the comments someone else asking for a postcard to present. Didn't know this was an option. If so, please let me know.
Thanks and congratulations!
@Stan Yes, I've had mine up in the same spot for months. There really isn't a lot to hold up with these. Once you get a good bond they'll stay there.
A question about longevity? If I decide I would want the frames t stay up for ever but wish to just change the pictures .... Has it worked out?
Fantastic. So happy they are working out, Abdulla. And I can't wait to see your installation. Please keep me posted.
I just recieved a prototype thumbtile set from steven and I must say it's ingenious ! very happy with the quality and very fast correspondence with me, I'm looking forward to use these for my art exhibition installation! thanks again Steven, Very happy to see my first backed project to become successful!
Good luck
I've been printing things myself though I like that their option exists. The ability to send photos straight from the iPhone app over to them is a very nice feature.
Thanks, Steven. I got your message with their contact info as well. I appreciate it. Are you happening to use them yourself or are you just ink jetting things (or perhaps even a different digital print service)?
Thanks again.
Craig, I talked with the folks who do the printing over at Hipstamatic and they'll only do the full order all at once. I guess they're not set up to track an order if it's split up. I'll send along their contact info in case you'd like to follow up.
I pledged awhile back for the 24 pack. I'm curious if any of you have experience using the hipstamatic app and printing service? I had a lot of trouble getting an account set up (though finally did). I am mostly wondering how their packages of prints work. For the 24 pack of 7" prints (which are ideal and suggested for the thumbtiles), do you have to send/request/print all 24 at one go or can you print a smaller batch at a time that deducts from your total package count? I'm mostly trying to figure out if I need to have a bunch of pictures taken and ready in order to take advantage of volume discounts.
I'm asking here since I didn't really find an answer on their site and I'm hoping some of you fellow backers (or the project creator) will have some experience with this printing service.
Thanks in advance for any light that can be shed on the subject!
Great idea. Looking forward to seeing it realized.
Congrats on reaching the goal!
Congrats! Beautiful idea, and can't wait to stick them on several walls!
Excited that this project will be happening. Hope it goes well. If it does, maybe you would consider tiles in other sizes and non-square format.
Please send me a postcard. I will be giving 2 (of the 4) as a gift to a friend. Thanks!
Will do. Thanks J C.
Oh, I meant to add, my pledge is for a present for my wife. If you can send a postcard for me to give to her, that'd be great.
All about the photos. Exactly right. Thanks a lot Diego.
Great idea Steven! I love the way to show picture in tiles, no frame, just pictures. Thanks, Diego - Italy
A little ways to go. Thanks a lot for your support, John.
