We need to become permanent members of the Pittsburgh Folk Festival in order to be able to perform yearly.
This year, the members of Copihue Chile Folk Group have prepared a dance program based on the lesser-known region of Easter Island. However, we need to get enough money to become permanent members of the Pittsburgh Folk Festival, to be held this year May 18, 19, & 20 at the Monroeville Convention Center (http://www.pghfolkfest.org/). The purpose of the festival is to showcase the diversity that makes up Pittsburgh as a microcosm of the United States. An important part of the festival is dedicated to school groups who would not be able to experience other cultures without it. If our group were to become permanent members, it would help to sustain this event. In addition, the Chilean culture would take its rightful place alongside Pittsburgh's older immigrant groups from Eastern Europe.
