Do you have questions about Indie in Advance? Want to learn more about IC Geeks Publishing? You will have your chance to ask them on Tuesday night 6/5/12 at 7:00pm cst. Just help give you some ideas about what questions you might want to ask, here are some things we are going to do with Indie in Advance.

- Make it possible for small press and indie creators to get their comics to retailers.

- Give retailers a new stream of revenue and allow  fans a chance to buy the comics they want.

- Offer affordable printing for all kinds of comics or comic related projects.

- Make a place for the indie comics community to connect and supply information.

I hope these things might help you come up with questions about what we are doing.

Here is a little something that was written up about Indie in Advance. There have been a few questions about what it is we are trying to do and I am hoping that helps to explain it a bit better. Again, if you have questions please ask. I am always glad to discuss what we are planning and how it will work.

What is INDIE IN ADVANCE?
- Indie in Advance is a website portal where indie comics of all walks of life will be able to find a home. It is the primary method for retailers, creators and fans to access all the indie comic treasure that IC Geeks Publishing would like to share with the world. This website will automate the ordering, production/printing and shipping used by IC Geeks Publishing and make indie books available to more people.

Okay, what are we out do to with Indie in Advance?- Rule the world? Na, I love comics, but that isn’t the best way to world domination.

Change the world of Comic Books? - Maybe, but more to the point we wish to make comics more available for everyone.

How are we going to make comics available to everyone?- First, we start with retailers. The main focus of the Indie in Advance website will to be allow retailers to see new indie comics and to order them directly from us.

Why retailers?- I believe that retailers are still the backbone of the comic industry and should be treated as such. I am hoping they are in turn willing to step out of their comfort box and try something new.

What do I mean by try something new?- For years it has been a single distribution that has determined what comics become available for retailers to sell. To me that is a great disservice to the retailers. Who better than they know what they can sell in their stores? Retailers should have control over what books make it into their shops. I stand by the idea that retailers should say what they can sell. I have seen stores sell 200 issues of an indie book within a week. Retailers have that kind of power. We wish to help give you the tools and support needed to do this.

What kind of benefits would retailers get by ordering through Indie in Advance?
- 50% off the cover price for all the books we offer.
- Exclusive access for 30 days on all new comics, before they are released to the general public on our site.
- The ability to order any issue we have in our library with any order. Never again will you have to tell a customer that you can’t get book they want, as long as it is in our library.
- Retailer finder. Before we sell a book to someone directly, we will notify them if there is a retailer who supports and orders from Indie in Advance. We want to add customers to your store.
- Exclusive offers like store specific covers, or you can insert your own ads for events that will be happening in your store. These ads can even be updated to reflect current and upcoming events. Welcome to the magic of short run and POD printing.

But what about the collectability of the POD printed books?- We track the number of all books printed. The creators will set the number of prints in a print run, and after that number is reached, there will be a change in the cover, plus an updated interior to reflect the new change of print run.

Okay, enough about retailers. What about the rest of the comic community?
- Well for creators we are going to be offering many great things through Indie in Advance.
- First is going to be our printing services. You will be able to log in to the creator section and get your pricing, track your order and get an estimate of when your order will be completed.
- Direct distribution to retailer and we pay you back 45% of the cover price minus the cost of printing. While this might not be enough to retire on, it is a start and a way to show that your books can generate an audience.
- The chance for you to offer your books to retailers and give you a larger audience than you already have.
- We offer to be a fulfillment center for your works. If you want to keep your store on your own site that is fine we'll print and ship the books out for you. You just need to notify us of the orders.
- This is the year of the Creator Owned book. Don’t get left behind. Get your books in and let us get them out to more people.
