Start The Riot wants to make great designs on 100% cotton t-shirts, hats, shorts, and other clothing. We print only original designs, with an attitude to match. Often political, STR doesn't screw around trying to make everyone happy. We make us happy, making designs we want to wear. Exciting, rowdy, and a little pissed off, and we want people who feel the same way. So we're looking for people with an attitude to help us start the riot, and get quality designs out to the people.
So far STR has been focusing on t-shirts, and getting attention for fearless and striking designs. We are looking to create new designs and continue existing designs on caps, hoodies, MMA and board shorts, and other garments, as well as stickers and other schwag. One major inspiration for the Kickstarter campaign we're running now is to allow us to capture opportunities we haven't been able to take on in the past, such as the San Diego County Fair, concerts, spring break celebrations and others...opportunities that were offered and yet a lack of liquid cash kept us from pursuing it. This campaign will let us seize the opportunities that arise. The talent and desire are there, and you can help us take that final leap.
Another founding ideal of STR is that of fairness. We want to introduce new artists and designers, and give them an opportunity to create their own visual style under our banner. We're designers ourselves and know what it's like to see a new idea germinate and grow into a force you can feel, and we want to give those designers who may not have great opportunities a chance. There are some other t-shirt marketers that claim to help their artists, but we feel like they're simply ripping people off. It's a numbers game, and if you're getting your design work for free any percentage you give artists is one you're ahead of already. We don't want to control artist's designs. We want to make a short-term deal with them to promote good designs, and let them choose to proceed. Fairness to creators is what will guide those choices.
