THE STORY
While vacationing at a Vermont lake house, Matt is awakened by loud piercing screams and groans coming from Ben's bedroom. He rushes to the bedroom and flicks on the lights...
He discovers his best friend Ben: convulsing, shaking, gagging... His legs straight and stiff like a statue, his arms flailing, fists clenched; foam bubbles from his lips. Ben is experiencing a very dangerous diabetic seizure and it is up to Matt to save his best friend's life. No phone, no hospital within 30 miles, and the closest inhabited house is the one directly across the lake. Matt's only option to save his best friend is to swim The Longest Swim...

This low budget feature film written by Indie writer Nate Ohl will be brought to life by Director Andrew Bernard, and a highly talented cast and crew with a passion not only for film, but also a passion for this story. Each member of FLEX-o-Lite Productions has been affected in one way or another by diabetes. Our main goal is to show audiences how important friendship is, while also showing how diabetes is a serious disease with serious complications.
We are asking you to join us in bringing this story to life. Currently, we are about 85% done with filming, with some seasonal shots that are needed to bring this film to completion.

THE SWIM TEAM
DIRECTOR - ANDREW BERNARD - Born and raised in the TRI-STATE area, Andrew’s passion for film emerged at an early age upon watching Steven Spielberg’s timeless classic E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial. Beyond E.T., Spielberg’s work and belief in ‘movie magic’ strongly influences Andrew’s cinematic ventures. In the past four years, Andrew has Produced ten short films, including The Journal, 2009 NEW YORK 48 HOUR FILM FESTIVAL 1st PLACE AWARD WINNER; Chick Flick, 2010 LOS ANGELES 48 HOUR FILM FESTIVAL AUDIENCE AWARD WINNER; and In a Box, 2010 SOHO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL OFFICIAL SELECTION. Just recently, he was honored with the prestigious William Paterson University CAP STONE AWARD. Andrew believes that being a movie-maker means you get to live many, many lifetimes. The same reason audiences go to movies. He believes in the power of narratives; the importance of making a writer's words and a director's vision real so that audiences may truly encounter a new experience, a new breath and life through the magic of cinema, no matter what the movie is about.
PRODUCER/WRITER - NATE OHL - Adventurer of ‘What is Cinema?’ Nathaniel Isaac Allerton Ohl has jumped many hurdles in his life, having battled dyslexia, epilepsy, and thyroid dysfunction. Writing was and still is Nate’s revolt to life’s many dilemmas. After graduating with a writing concentration from Ramapo College of New Jersey, Nate worked at DISNEY ABC Radio for two and a half years, then chose to continue his studies and received a Master of Fine Arts degree in script & screenwriting. With the belief that a good writer listens well, Nate’s affinity for wisdom has led him to the guidance of several talented individuals. He has studied under art & media professionals such as: Bridget Bedard (Screenwriter on the TV series Mad Men & Men of a Certain Age), James Hoch (Poetry writer of A Parade of Arms), Anne Paas (MTV & indie director), Curtis Sliwa (Founder of the Guardian Angels & radio host), David Michaels and Kent Harper (Producer & Writer of Jeniffer Lynch’s sophomore film Surveillance). These individuals assisted Nate in polishing his artistry, but there are so many who have simply shared a memorable story with him that deserve equal accreditation.
In 2010, Nate Associate Produced and Art Directed the short film Chinatown, which premiered at CANNES FILM FESTIVAL. Soon after, he founded Flex-o-Lite Productions, LLC as Writer and Producer of Tea, in Pittsburg, official selection of the 2011 PALM BAY FILM FESTIVAL, BUFFALO NIAGARA FILM FESTIVAL, and HONOLULU FILM FESTIVAL AWARD WINNER. As a writer, Nate’s focus is not to replicate reality or add to reality, but to write stories that reveal reality.
DP - ANDREW "TANK" RIVARA - Cinematographer and lighting designer Andrew “Tank” Rivara is a Northern New Jersey lifer. While attending Fairleigh Dickinson University, Tank crafted his ability to frame the camera and light the scene accordingly. Now, a lighting professional, Tank has worked on fifteen feature films, three of which he was the Director of Photography, and ten of which he was the Gaffer. Most recently, Tank was the Gaffer on the feature film Prairie Love, 2011 SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL OFFICIAL SELECTION and ATLANTA FILM FESTIVAL GRAND JURY PRIZE WINNER for BEST FEATURE. As gaffer of Prairie Love, Tank learned the acclaimed lighting style of established cinematographer Lawrence Schweich. Tank loves filmmaking, loves to strike light. He owns a cargo van filled with equipment, and travels all over the TRI-STATE area lighting TV and Film productions with his gear. To Tank, there is nothing like creating alluring atmosphere, whatever the project, whatever the gig, he is all about lighting the scene gorgeous.
