Holy smokes! As you can see, we've exceeded our goal in record time. We can't begin to explain how grateful we are for your incredible donations. (But we'll start trying.) Your generous support guarantees that we can now make our film!

When we initially set our goal, we didn't know what to expect; we crafted as scrappy a budget as possible in hopes that we'd be able to make "Ticking" at all. NOW, with support still coming in, not only will we be able to make our film—we'll be able to make a better film. Every extra dollar over our goal remains in the production and affords us all the chance to see this project come to life in the best way possible. We are amazed that so many people have contributed and ecstatic that you are all now a part of our team.

Hi there!

I'm Matt, an author and Internet geek. Once upon a time, I published an illustrated short story collection called To Slow Down the Time.

And this is my friend Chris:

Chris is a TV and theatre actor. You might also recognize his handsome mug from when it starred as Glen in last year's award-winning film Weekend.

Oh! And then there's this:

This is "A Place to Sew", and it's pretty much the reason we're here. Another friend, an illustrator named Ian Dingman, painted it in 2009.

In 2010, I wrote a short story inspired by it, called it "Ticking", and included it in my book. It's a little tale about obsession, growing up, and two teens desperate to find something more in life. It's also about bombs.

So... First "Ticking" was a painting, then it was a short story, and now Chris aims to take it one step further. He's adapted it into a great screenplay, and he's ready to direct it. I feel his vision brilliantly brings to life the nostalgic, coming-of-age tone I'd hoped to capture in the original. 

And that's it, really. A snapshot of it. This Kickstarter is about raising funds to make my short story into a short film. This Kickstarter is about the evolution of art. And, heck yeah, this Kickstarter is about connecting with people who give a damn about creativity.

Our Goal

We hope to film "Ticking" early July 2012 in London. Thanks to the generosity of Chris's UK film community, we've been able to greatly reduce the budget for this project. Our incredibly talented cinematographer, producers, sound guys, and assistants have all offered to participate for MUCH LESS than they are professionally worth, and we've even had equipment donated to our cause.

Still, it will cost money to insure our production, pay location fees, complete post production, and have the film shown at film festivals as we intend. EVERY SINGLE CENT will be spent on making this a quality production, and if we should surpass our goal EVERY SINGLE CENT will still be spent in that regard—and we'll have an even better film. While Chris and I have agreed to make nothing on this project (we're in it for the action!), how nice would it be to actually compensate the talented folks that have offered to volunteer their time? Please consider pledging. EVERY SINGLE CENT is greatly appreciated.
