On a winter's morning in January 1992, many lives were soon to be forever changed, touched and imprinted by one young man.  I am making this film on the life story of Josh LaRue.  This film is based largely on family accounts of that day in 1992, and there are many open wounds still needing to be healed.  But his entire family has come together to make this film a reality.  They are an inspiration to me, which is why I am making this film.   Never give up!!!!  That is the message of this project.   Please watch the video above, and LIKE, EMBED, and TWEET the heck out out of this.  Become a part of this project as if it were your own.  This is the only way to truly bring this documentary to life. 

Josh's Story...

Josh grew up a happy and adventurous kid in a small town in north central Minnesota.  He also grew up with asthma.  Tragedy struck Josh at a young age, just a few months before his high school graduation.  An asthma attack forced his lungs to shut down and he suffered permanent brain damage due to the prolong absence of oxygen.  This left him paralyzed, blind, and unable to communicate.  His desire to express himself inspired an invention by Josh and his brothers that is a marvel to witness in action.  This device allows Josh to speak his mind through the use of a computer.  He has published several books with this device, the first being "My Last Breath".  These book are Josh's testament to all he has endured and could never speak of. 

Why funding is needed...

"As I turned away from my body, I saw that there was a staircase before me.  I began climbing them. I was thinking of my family as I climbed the stairs.  I knew they would all miss me...but something told me they would be alright.  I turned back to look at my body, that's when everything crashed back, I was swallowed up by a tidal wave of confusion and pain." 

Josh has incredible stories in his book "My Last Breath".  Since he cannot communicate his stories verbally, his writings need to be brought to life visually somehow through post production processes, i.e. illustration, animation, narration and  music.  Funds raised through this will help cover these costs and launch this film to the next level. 

What we are asking...

With your help, we need to reach the goal of $10,000.  This is a fraction of what will ultimately be spent for this project but every little bit counts.  Kickstarter is all or nothing, so if the goal is not met, donations are returned and no funds are raised.  So it is invaluable to help spread this message in order to make our goal. A slight coincidence that Josh's family moved away from Minnesota to Ohio, just a few miles away from where I grew up.  My hometown paper recently wrote a nice article on our project.  I now reside in Minnesota.
