Hello!

The Monarchs, my first book of poems, arrived in today's mail!

I'm here on Kickstarter because I'd like to do a West Coast Reading Tour of the book in the Spring and I'd love it if you were a part of it in some way.  

The tour would include:

• a silent film by poet Don Mee Choi made in California in the 1980s
• a reading of poems from The Monarchs, and
• live improvisational music or dance in some of the tour cities

It will start and end in Seattle and will visit these wonderful places:

• Victoria
• Vancouver
• Boise
• Walla Walla
• Portland
• San Francisco
• Oakland 
• Los Angeles

I also plan to conduct 1 1/2 hour workshops, mini-versions of longer experiential workshops on synesthesia and imagination I've been teaching over the last five years, in cities along the tour route.  More about the longer versions of those workshops is here:

I'm trying to raise $5,000 to pay for the ferries, food, workshop materials, and time, as well as places to stay or camp for this three week tour.  Funds would also provide income for other artists participating along the way, as well as pay for a projector for the film, and a camera for documentation.
