Dear Christian -- Sorry you didn't get your book yet! I checked and figured out what happened; I sent out the books to everyone whose addresses I had in March, but I didn't get your address info until March 31, and I missed the Kickstarter notification that you had filled out the survey. I'm sending your book today, thanks for your patience! -- Jason
I'm still waiting to get my copy, here in france. is that normal? thanks
Finally got the book in the mail and it is gorgeous! Well worth the wait. Thanks and keep up the good work! =-) ~DHC Jr.
*PHENOMENAL* looking book! Thanks so much! It is longer than I expected, and looks fantastic!
Made it to Phoenix. Looks good. Thanks again.
Got mine today! Can't wait to get started reading it! Thanks!
Book is amazing! Mine arrived today...wow...it's awesome. THANK YOU!
Eeek! So exciting!
Received my poster of the Dream Lands today. Looks great Jason! Gotta go find a nice frame for it now :-) Can't wait to see the book!
Thank you. I received the gorgeous book in the post in time for Valentine's day...
Awesome.
Just received my copy in Singapore today, and it looks absolutely beautiful! Thanks Jason!
My copy just arrived today (Toronto). The book is great! It was printed very professionally, with the artwork not blurry anywhere. I'm having fun reading the Kadath story for the first time, as I'd only seen the movie version before, as well as rereading the short stories. If you're still sending copies out, you might consider adding an extra layer of bubble wrap to prevent against damages, as mine arrived with the cover a bit crunched on one end (none of the pages damaged, thankfully, and I managed to move it back into its normal position).
My copy arrived yesterday and it looks fantastic! My thanks belong to Jason and other backers who participated and allow this project came true. And now excuse me, I have to read one story about a dreamer... ;-)
Got mine in the post last night, and have been eagerly devouring it since. It's been an honour ro bring such a classic back to light. Thank you for letting be a part of it.
ZOMG it's here!!!
Quality is astounding, both in terms of the artwork and the overall production (and storytelling too, but I knew that already...)
I feel genuinely privileged to have helped this book move from dream to reality.
Thanks so much Jason, and keep the projects coming, please!
Just got my copy. It's a beautiful book: didn't realise it would be quite as large! Thanks Jason!
Wow. It looks utterly fantastic!
The book looks gorgeous! Can't wait. :)
Book looks awesome. Can't wait to have a copy here to read and enjoy.
The book looks wonderful!
Very excited!
Jason, I added an extra $40 to my pledge level to get a second copy of the book for a friend of mine. I didn't know how else to indicate that in the pledge level I made... I trust we can work it out. :-)
Congratulations! Good Show!
Hi E.J.! Thanks for asking, a couple of other people have also sent me emails about how they'll get to pick their comic pages. Before the books go out in December, I'm probably going to email all the "Great One" backers such as yourself and let you see the pages in a digital format so you can pick which ones you want. I've been thinking about a couple of ways to do it but this way seems like the best.
Many thanks,
Jason
Jason,
I have been thinking about it and decided to upgrade to the "Great One" level... I really love your artwork and detail!
From what you said, it seems like you'll send us the books first, then send a survey asking which page we would want from the book. Would there be any way of sending us .pdf files of the book and have us let you know before you send out the books so that you can ship them together? I know you said that they'd probably be in separate packages because of the size, but this was just a thought I had. In any case, I really like your architectural drawings and the fantastic city-scapes like those on Celephais, Pages 1 and 7. That's what I'd be most interested in. Are there any scenes like that that I might be able to choose in the upcoming book?
Thanks again,
E.J.
Thanks, David and Andrew! I can confirm now that the book will be hardcover.
Jason thanks for putting this together I cannot wait to see the book in its glorious entirety!
Hey Jason! Thanks for your hard work for getting this together! (And thanks to all the backers who are making it possible!)
What are your plans for a hardcover now that the goal is passed?
Thanks everyone! Let me try to address everyone's questions!
@Jim -- I'm aiming to get the book to the printer in November and get it to everyone before the end of the year! One person, who funded to the "Nyarlathotep" level, requested a new comic, and that won't be done until a little after the New Year, but everyone else's orders should get there in December, unless there are serious delays with international mail or holiday mail.
@John -- Edward is the greatest! We don't have any plans to work together again at the moment, but we live only a few hours away from one another, and I know he is working hard on his new zombie movie, "Flesh of My Flesh", so anything's possible. He's also doing a series of Lovecraftian short horror stories on his website Blinkspace (http://www.guerrilla-productions.org/Blinkspace/).
@ E.J. -- Good question! Right now all the pages are available except for three double-page spreads. For the Great One and up level backers, I was thinking of mailing the rewards in two separate mailings, one, so that you can get the book and see all the pages, and then two, so I can send you the page of your choice once you've seen the book. But that would mean that the artboard pages would arrive later than the books (although they would have to be shipped separately in any case, because the art boards are big). I'm still figuring out the best solution to this.
@ Jason and Ruth -- Thank you so much! :) I'm working on the map of the Dreamlands right now!
There are a lot of stories that I'd like to see illustrated, but I never thought I'd see someone doing Dream-Quest. So excited! It's gorgeous and I can't wait for it.
Jason, your artwork is beautiful and amazing! I pledged at Dreamer, thinking of upgrading to Great One, where can we see artwork from the Dream-Quest to possibly choose from for the original art boards?
Congrats on your awesome success!
Jason, I just ordered issues 1 and 2 from your website. They arrived today. Thanks so much for signing them for me. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. Now, I am really eager to get the full graphic novel. I also loved your artwork in the film, too. Edward did a great job of it. Do you suppose that it's possible that you and Edward will work together again? I am so happy that the project is a success. Congratulations!!!!!
I'm am absolutely thrilled to see the campaign was a success! What a fantastic way to start the weekend.
Now that it's a go, is there a forecasted completion date for the project yet?
Still wish I had the $3K to drop on this, but . . . Oh hay! You made it! YAY! ^_^ I've been wanting to read this since the Unspeakable Oath (#10 or #11, I think). Congrats Jason!
Hi Megan! THANK YOU! And everyone! I just found out the incredible news minutes ago and my head's still swirling. If you're going to the Jet City Comic Show this Saturday, I'll have a booth, so please stop by! It'll be great to meet you! Now I have to straighten my tie and think of something proper to say to everyone... all I can feel right now is incredible gratitude and luck to have the support of so many people.
Hey Kevin! :) Thanks for your support, I hope the new edition of Dream-Quest lives up to your memories, and hopefully more than that!
Congratulations on getting funded! I am so thrilled that this project is going to be realized, the world needs more great graphic art and Lovecraft :D I will definitely keep directing people to this project, and I look forward to seeing the final product! Happy to see, too, that you're a fellow Seattleite... we've go the best of the best in this city. Cheers, and again, way to go!
I was one of the lucky few who had the original run; *had* because, sadly, I don't know what happened to them (a couple of moves and getting married will do that). Very excited to be able to help give them another chance for exposure!
Thanks Jason! Tell all your cats!!
Hey Jim! :) I'm honored that you like my Dream-Quest adaptation. It's always been my favorite Lovecraft story and I wish I could spend even more time exploring its world. I've worked on a Dream-Quest video game that sadly never went anywhere, and of course on roleplaying games and even a Dream-Quest MUD once... anyway, thank you for your support, and I hope you like the new edition!
Thanks John! I'm working now on coloring the new cover (the linework is done) and drawing the map of the Dreamlands. :) Edward is awesome, I hope he releases his zombie movie "Flesh of My Flesh" soon!
Hi Liv! :) Thank you so much for finding us! I was at the HPL Film Festival the year the movie debuted, it was an awesome event! I wish I could make it to this year's Portland festival but it's on the same weekend as the Alternative Press Expo in San Francisco! But I hope to make it to 2012's Portland festival, or maybe the Los Angeles one!
Yes! I'm spreading the word far and wide!
A good friend & fellow HPL fan directed me to this Kickstarter campaign on Facebook. I'm really excited to see DQ revisited for a bigger, better edition. This has been my absolute favourite comic adaptation of any HPL story since I discovered his work in the late '90s, when I managed to snag the entire DQ book collection right off the shelf at Pegasus Games in Madison, WI. I really hope the entire $10K is reached.
I found the old issue #1 at a used bookstore here in Ohio. It's great!!! I also have the DVD from Edward Martin. I can only hope that you get the full pledge because I want this graphic novel badly. I love your work
I've wanted to have your work on paper since I first saw the film version at the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival in Portland. So glad to see this happening, I'll be spreading the word!
I'm still working on scanning & retouching the old pages, but I'm hoping to have the new cover done in time for Jet City! :)
Will you have the new artwork at Jet City???
Thanks Austin! :) The DVD was a lot of fun to work on. Edward Martin III of www.petting-zoo.org was the person who came up with the idea and did all the legwork to put it together, with help from his friends. The music by Cyoakha Grace O Manion was wonderful, very Dream-Questy... another movie that has a very Dream-Quest soundtrack, IMHO, is the anime "Night on the Galactic Railroad."
Leslie, thanks for the kind words!! :) I'm honored that you managed to find the original comics and I hope you like the new edition! This week I'm working on the new cover and the new map of the Dreamlands, and I'll be posting updates when they're ready to show!
Didn't even have to read the page. I was only able to get the DVD version of the comics so I knew it would be stupid to pass this up.
