About this project
2g (Second Generation Productions), a theater company devoted to strengthening the Asian American theater community by developing new works, is producing its first annual 10-Minute Play Festival, "Free Range". Last month, we put out the call for brand new plays by Asian American playwrights and we found some exciting new voices. We need your help in raising $500 to support the playwrights, actors, and artists in presenting these exciting 7 new works in November. Any additional support above our $500 goal will help us to provide commission to playwrights of 3 of the most promising plays to be turned into full-length staged readings this spring. Thank you for your consideration!

Since 1997, 2g has worked to identify, nurture and support the next generation of Asian American writers, actors, and directors and to build and expand their audience base. Over the last 13 years, we have cultivated over 400 Asian American artists and brought their original work to over 148,800 theatergoers from across New York City.
In support of our mission, we have made a commitment to bringing Asian American stories out of the fringes and into the mainstream of American theater. As a true incubator for new Asian American voices, we accomplish our mission through the following ways: creating contemporary, world-class Asian American theater that reaches across cultural, generational, and racial boundaries; cultivating the next generation of Asian American dramatic arts, by identifying and nurturing a vibrant community of actors, directors and writers from the established and emerging to the early-career and pre-professional; and finally, connecting with new and untapped audiences, especially young Asian Americans and other underrepresented groups historically underserved by mainstream American theater.
