Julian Osti is trying to raise money to record new Glossy Wheel songs.
I have been making music under the name Glossy Wheel since 2007. From 2008 to 2010 I obsessively worked on a record called Idiot's Song with my friend and producer L. Skell. I was trying to make a really good, really different record to try and live up to all of the music I love. It was a long and heavy process. The results were, well, I'm still not sure what to think of it.
This year I started making music with a different setup which has been fruitful, and a little less of a struggle. I have been writing songs off of the computer, and have focused very hard not just to make interesting sounds, but to make really strong compositions. I am trying to capture these songs at the peak of their existence, and not hate the recording process.
In the past I have recorded myself, or had a friend record me, but the open-ended nature of it caused more than a few problems. Due to the fact that I am an obsessive worker, and have the tendency to revise things until they are no longer a thing, I'm trying to record these songs while they are still fresh, still songs, and still funky and I have a deadline to meet. Most of this new material has been played live and now I'm trying to raise money to record it with a good engineer and press it to vinyl.
The material recorded in these sessions, will be put to vinyl immediately and released on Hair Salon, my new label. Hair Salon will see its first release this month, a 7" which contains the "Wherehouse" and "Vogue Cliff" from the last Glossy Wheel album, Idiot's Song, an album heard by few. Any additional money raised beyond the project goal will fund subsequent releases on Hair Salon by artists such as Prayertown, Brick Layer, and Mr. Sympathy.
Thank you so much.
