About this project
Sweet and Shiny is going to be a cafe that offers custom cakes and displays local artists' works and functional items. Everything from the chairs to chandeliers will be handmade by artists and craftsmen that work out of Brooklyn. There will also be bi monthly art exhibits from a range of different artists.
The space needs a lot of work done to bring the store up to code. This was hidden from me before I signed the lease. The Landlord insured me that the store was ready to open up and did not allow any time to fix anything or even get the electric turned on. So I have been paying rent as I am fixing everything, which is a lot! After having state inspectors come and do a "walk through" they pointed out everything that is wrong, from plumbing, to electric, building security, a bunch of fire code problems, and tons more of issues. The estimated amount to bring the store up to code is a little over $10,000....this is not including supplies and materials, this is just to bring the store up to code. So we are asking for your help.

its better to not be greedy!!! Its part of the deal, if we can't meet our goal then the funding falls through and we don't receive any funds. But you can always go over your goal...which is what i'm hoping for!! So please just because we are almost to our goal, don't quit spreading the word!

I went to The Ohio State University and majored in Fine Art, specializing in Glassblowing. I have been making Wedding and Special Occasions cakes for over 15 years. I have lived and worked in Brooklyn doing either Glassblowing or Cake Decorating for the past 7 years. I finally decided to take all my passions and combine them in 2010 into one company called Sweet and Shiny, and now I am adding in my passion for cooking to create Sweet and Shiny Cafe.
