Two brothers search a swathe of small town bars for their estranged father, hoping to bring him home for Thanksgiving dinner.
SYNOPSIS:
Fresh out of the Navy, Pete Church returns to his hometown on Thanksgiving to track down an alcoholic father he hasn’t seen in years. Unable to pick up the scent on his own, he calls his older brother Bob who has remained in town building a business and a family.
The estranged siblings hit a series of old bars, but while Pete is intent on finding their father, Bob just wants to drink and reconnect with his little brother.
Along the way, they're joined by Gene, a barroom hustler. He promises to lead the brothers to their father (as long as they buy the beer). Desperate, they accept Gene’s half-cocked guidance through the small town dives. As the quest falters, the drinking increases; old grievances arise, and the brothers must face the past and each other.

THE PLEA:
A big thanks to everybody who has helped us out so much so far, especially those of you in Eau Claire/Chippewa Falls. We couldn't have done it without you. As anybody who saw us filming that winter can attest, we're a very small production. To those of you who didn't, we'll sum it up like this: we all fit into one rented van.
The good news is that Sawdust City has been invited to premiere in competition at the Los Angeles Film Festival this June:
The slightly less good news is that we need a final push to get us over the hill to where we need to be. Thanks to the increasing quality of affordable equipment, our own hard-won no-budget filmmaking, and your own inestimable help, we've managed to craft a great little film. However, it's going up on big screens, on big systems, alongside bigger films and we need to look and sound our best.
We're excited to have this opportunity and we're eager to make the most of it. Donated monies would go to advancing our sound, picture, music, and promotional resources to a competitive degree.
As we well know, these are true brother-can-you-spare-a dime times (in fact, that's partially what the film is about). That just makes your support all the more necessary and all the more appreciated.
Sawdust City is a Thanksgiving movie, and we give many thanks in advance.
