Hey everybody, it's us, East West Quintet, your favorite jazz/rock band. You may know us from such hit singles as The Triumph and Vast pt. 2. No? OK, fair enough. You may not have heard these songs on Hot 97, but chances are if you're reading this, you probably do know us and will be excited to hear that we are recording a new album! Since we released our last album, Vast, in 2009, we've been hard at work crafting new songs and performing around New York City and the West Coast. We've also officially added a sixth member (though laziness prevented us from changing our name to reflect this) and somehow managed to continue on our path of successfully mixing many genres of music without being labeled a "fusion" band, and that’s something we're pretty proud of.

So why are we sharing this news with you? In order to record this album, we need to raise some money. In this strange time for the music industry, one of the best and most innovative ways independent artists can create and record their music is by investment from the outside. Kickstarter allows you, the listener, to contribute to the creation of an album prior to its recording, thus playing a crucial role in the production process. In return for your investment, we've come up with a great list of incentives. We might not be able to give away subscriptions to the New Yorker or tote bags (seriously, enough with the tote bags!), but we think you'll like what we have to offer! $10 gets you a digital download of the new album (we will not be pressing CDs) once it's released, and the more you pledge, the more you get (if you’ve always wanted an East West Quintet cover song of your choosing, now’s your chance).

If we are able to reach our goal of $7000, your donations will provide two weeks of studio time, mixing, mastering, album artwork, digital distribution, publicity, and a 3-week Hawaiian vacation for the band (...just kidding about that last part). Those of you who are familiar with our music know that achieving a high level of sonic quality and production value is crucial to our sound and that comes at a premium. We’ve lined up a great team of accomplished professionals that will be working with us to us make our music sound its best. It's important for us to convey the same energy in our recordings as we do at our live shows, and with your help we can do that.
