About this project

Hi! I first came up with this idea in response to the recession. How could I display progress, the idea of looking forward in to tomorrow and taking the steps necessary for change? I created this series of chairs to grow from the ground up and soon descend back to. There are always going to be hurdles, it is how one responds to those hurdles which will lead toward change, whether it be positive or negative.

WHAT I WANT TO DO
I want to create a Photo Journal of the trip. The book will include photos of the places I have been, talk about people I have met along the way, and read about the hurdles and experiences I have encountered. I have always loved the idea of making a sort of coffee table book, something to inspire, smile about or just thumb through. Travel with me on my adventure.

HOW I PLAN TO MAKE IT HAPPEN
Well the first step is finishing the trip! I am currently in Colorado and going to continue up north from here. Packing List: Chairs, camera, camcorder, journal, pencil/pen, one toothbrush, a map and a red hand truck.
This is a spontaneous installment, so I am not too sure exactly where I am going next or when I'm going to get there. I find that if one doesn't plan everything in detail then the discoveries on the way will be that much more enriching. So if you have any suggestions, please email them my way (going north and east from here) When I set it up I usually find people interact with it more if I am not next to the piece, so lately i've become more of a spectator, watching people naturally respond.
Check out my blog, you can see where I've been and travel with me on my journey.

YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS
The contributions will be used to create a publication once all is done. You won't go empty handed, though. For $1 or more your name will have the perfect spot on the acknowledgements page, giving recognition for your support. There are so many awesome "Prizes" depending on how generous you're feeling. And for $2000 the installation is yours! and I will deliver it to your door via The red hand truck.
This book is going to have as many things that I can possibly crame in to it. I've never published a book before, so it may take a little while to figure it all out, but I promise it is going to be AMAZING! With your help and enthusiasm this book can be great and with some extra effort and support it could be even greater!!

Thank you very much for your time and experiencing my project.

I was born and raised in Colorado and currently I am working and living in Penland, North Carolina. I studied industrial design at Metro State College of Denver for two years. After building my first piece of furniture, I decided to focus primarily on furniture design. This led me to Savannah College of Art and Design, where in 2008 I graduated with a degree in furniture design. I love building objects for living because of the processes involved. Creating three-dimensional forms from two dimensional drawings and raw materials, is a fascinating process in itself. I am trying now to have my work communicate to people on a deeper level, by integrating real issues.
