Voyeurism is participation!
So often when people talk about nature it's done in a whispy voice dripping with reverence and adoration. Don't get me wrong, there is so much beauty and awe to behold but I like my science like I like my science fiction: dark, brutal and gratuitous.
Learning about the world of the prairie I saw relationships forged between species that would rival the kingdoms of old in their brutality and necessity. The battle for dominance has developed a multitude of fascinating adaptations including chemical warfare, botanical bondage and even spore firing catapults. Some may just see plants, I see a brutal and arduous existence that begs a deep, probing inquiry.
This will not be your typical guide to the prairie. The funding of this project will provide the tools and time necessary to study reproduction on the prairies of Iowa. With the use images and samples taken throughout the summer and fall months I will be telling the story of how plants get down and dirty to ensure their offspring make it into being.
I'll admit it, I like to watch. Help fund this project and we will bring natures dark and dirty secrets to the surface.
