WHY ARE THE FUNDS NEEDED?

First and foremost, RECORDING THE SOUNDTRACK!!!!  Finding quality royalty free music is very difficult no matter how you slice it.  This is why we decided to simply record the music the way we want it for the film.  Our set goal is the minimum required to record the soundtrack for this film.  Any and all additional funds will go towards the following.

The DLFA Project is a documentary film about the DLFA in the late 1970s and early 80s. The DLFA was a group of misfit rock climbers known for hard climbing, beer drinking, and establishing bold first ascents at Devils Lake SP and throughout the mid west. Yes, their group name does include some vulgarity but that defines who they were as climbers and what they stood for.

Their era of climbing was a unique time in history when many of the climbing areas in the US had endless amounts of unclimbed rock. All over the country, bold first ascents were being established by those with a vision of what was possible and how high the “bar” could be raised within their physical and mental constraints. Climbing development of this magnitude may never happen again in the US. In addition to pioneering hard ascents and achieving new levels of technical climbing, many of the routes put up by DLFA members were extremely dangerous R/X rated lead climbs that have seen very few ascents since the 1980s. Their influence and achievements remain prevalent today as climbers still aspire to soberly repeat and climb the “test piece” routes established by the DLFA.

As climbing continues to evolve and the years go by, people sometimes forget where we have come from. They don't know the people or the story of those with the vision and determination to push to the standards of what is possible. The goal of this film is to remind everyone what was happening before the internet, social media, hi tech camming devices, climbing gyms, knee bar pads and light beer.
