Update #4 · May 9, 2012 · comment

Wonderful Backers,

Oh my lord, so much happening! Of course, our #1 priority is The Great Migration Tour, and thankfully there's a lot of news to report!

Recently added dates to The Great Migration Tour include shows in

-Austin, TX at Skinny's Ballroom, 6/21

-New Orleans, LA at Banks St. Bar, 6/22

-Chapel Hill, NC Super Secret House Show w/ The Clockwork Kids /28

-Richmond, VA at The Cellar Door, 6/29

BAM! This tour is cookin'!

To boot, this Kickstarter campaign couldn't be going better! We're at $2,350 with 12 days to go, which is absolutely incredible! If you've backed this project already, we owe you an eternity of gratitude (and, for many of you, Executive Producer credits!). But if you've already thrown your support behind the project and still want to see it shine, post about the Kickstarter on facebook, google +, myspace (yeah, right), and whatever other internet websites you can think of! You're all the best, and you're making our dreams come true. Thank you.

A special thank you goes out to The Tucson Weekly for posting about The Great Migration Tour and the accompanying Kickstarter project! We really felt the love, and we'll miss the hell out of all the talented writers with such fine taste over there.

Lastly, we've got a few more dates in town before we head out!

First off, we're playing The Yucca Tap Room in Tempe this coming Tuesday, May 14th with The Donkeys and Sun Ghost! More info found here!

Then a gig at Club Congress w/ Triple Double for their CD release party on May 25th! Info here!

And hey! Another gig at The Yucca with long-time friends Instructions on June 12th. Info here!

Of course, there'll be one more Tucson show at Skybar before we skip town, stay tuned for more info as it develops!

You are all the best, we couldn't do any of this without you, and I'm so excited to see what more we can do with y'all on our side.

Halloween,

-Zach, Nate, & Roger; Faster Than Light & Young Mothers

Update #3 · May 2, 2012 · comment

Today we hit 23 Backers at $1,775!!! WE LITERALLY CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!

Thank you all so much for taking the time, movin the money, and having some faith in us. We've had a ton of support from our friends and families, but we've also had a hand from some great local and regional blogs and websites. Let's give a shout out to    The Tucson Weekly, The Spec Blog, & West Coast Fix. Also, for a hilarious time, check out the little war going on in the comment section on the Tucson Weekly piece. Priceless.

And now, for a little update.

Nate's been working hard, gigging his tail off, and teaching tons of lessons. But somehow he's found time to get a crazy new video put together for Faster Than Light's "Moosecall". Check out the video below!

I just moved down to Tucson for the month to start producing Dumpster Fire's new LP. It's pretty far out there and very metal when you consider the music that I normally make, but the tunes are killer (literally) and I'm having a great time nestling up to A Mountain. I've even been writing a ton. Check out this live demo I recorded at the piano a few nights ago. It's of a tune-in-progress (TIP) that just might make it on this tour album!

We've got just about half of this tour ALMOST officially booked- i.e., agreements with some folks and venues across the nation, just a little bit short of straight up booked. So this week we're leaning hard on the gigs that we've got almost booked, and renewing our campaign in the cities where we've got nothing going on. Watch out, Richmond, we're coming for you.

There's some very special announcements coming down the line, but hold tight and thank you for your generosity and support until then.

-Zach

Damn! Now that's progress!

Update #2 · Apr 25, 2012 · comment

Alright, y'all. It's day 4 and we're about 21% funded! I don't know how other Kickstarters go, but I think this is a fantastic start! Thank you to all of our donors! You're friends, you're family, you're strangers. These are all my favorite types of donors!

But hey, we've got to keep this momentum going! Our 12 backers have already shown their support and dedication to our project through their pledges, but if you've already shown your support for The Great Migration tour and still want to push this project closer to fruition, you can always spread the word about the project. Facebook updates, personal emails, regular old conversations with like-minded friends- any way you can think of to help get the word out! Even the smallest bit of help is a big help!

Speaking of help, we've been getting a ton of it from people all over the country when it comes to this tour. We've got a house show brewing in Chapel Hill, NC, the gig at Memphis' Buccaneer, a wine bar show in New Orleans, a show with Opposite Day in Austin, TX, etc. We're keeping our noses to the grindstone and pounded the pavement, and it's starting to pay off.

World, thank you. You've been saying, "Yes", and we hear you. More to come!  Keep it comin, spread the word, keep it cool.

First gig booked! Look out Memphis!

Update #1 · Apr 23, 2012 · comment

Hey Backers!

Today we had a big breakthrough in the planning of this project! We've been researching venues across the South and East coast and emailing venues and bands for a few weeks, but today we booked our first official show for The Great Migration Tour! We'll be playing The Buccaneer in Memphis, Tennessee on 6/23! The Buc seems like one of the choice spots in town, and we're super pumped to be playing there.

Additionally, we have a podcast performance/interview scheduled earlier that day for the Shut Up & Listen podcast in Memphis that we're super stoked for. Looks like we've got our formal performance and non-traditional recording opportunity all set up for Memphis!

Booking a tour can be a long, involving, and discouraging process, but once you book that first show, everything seems to start falling into place. We launched this Kickstarter just over 24 hours ago, and we've already got 6% of our goal and have booked our first show. I'm VERY encouraged by this progress, and we want to thank our backers for their support and faith. Here's to forward-momentum!

Today, Memphis. Tomorrow, The World. More to come.
