Update #3: CD Update: Recording dates are set! Check us out on NBC TV!
Hi Ya'll,
Hope everyone is well and enjoying the first few signs of spring! We wanted to update you on our CD process. We interviewed 4 different top of the line recording studios and ended up going with Dubway Studios (www.dubway.com). We are so thrilled to be joining the company of Patti Smith, They Might Be Giants, Cyndi Lauper, Alicia Keys, Christine Ebersol, New York City Opera, MTV, iTunes & other record labels and major recording artists that have recorded at Dubway. Go onto their website to read more about owner, Al Houghton & this fantastic studio! We start recording Tuesday, April 5th, with numerous recording dates over a period of two weeks. Our current plans are to have our Big Apple Bluegrass CD and fabulous NYC launch party in June and hope to see you there. We'll keep you posted on our progress.
We have been rehearsing like mad over the past month, polishing our tried an' true repertoire and working out two new originals! If you are in the NYC area and want a sneak peak of those two, brand-spankin'-new-tunes, then come to the South Street Seaport Sunday April 3rd or 10th. We are so excited to be kicking off this fantastic new music venue inside the mall on Pier 17. With a back drop of the Brooklyn & Manhattan Bridges, the view is stunning (Pics, definitely to follow)!

Update #2: Thanks to you, we did it!
We are thrilled to announce: THE CD IS HAPPENING!!! With 2 days to go we have successfully reached our goal of $8,000 and then some! We are up to $9,095 and counting! Yee-haw! Thank you so much to everyone who has given money, reposted the link, and showed their support over the past 3 months. You are amazing! We are forever in your debt and can't wait to start working on the CD. We will keep you in the loop as we pick a recording studio and start laying down tracks. We have already started working on some new music and anticipate recording in early April. Again, thank you so much for your generosity and support!

The NYCity Slickers is an 8 piece, high energy bluegrass band that combines the wailing tight harmonies and talents of three gorgeous gal singers with the hard driving sound of five musically gifted guys on banjo, guitar, mandolin, fiddle, bass and accordion. The Slickers' unique "Big Apple Bluegrass" sound is a synthesis of traditional bluegrass, zydeco, delta blues & country pop, resulting in a theatrically inspired, toe tappin', one-of-a-kind, rockin' good time. Formed in 2008, The NYCity Slickers combines the talents of 8 classically trained musicians and vocalists who bring creative inspiration from their multi-faceted performance careers ranging from musical theatre, Nashville stages, jazz, pop, opera, orchestral, film and TV. The NYCity Slickers' theatrical concerts thrill audiences with eclectic sets of standard bluegrass, zydeco, delta blues, gospel and covers of popular artists such as the Dixie Chicks, Dolly Parton, Tammy Wynette, Rhonda Vincent, Claire Lynch and Ricky Scaggs, as well as their own original tunes.
The NYCity Slickers have performed for the past 2 years as a featured band in the "Take Me to the River" concert series on New York City's Pier 84. They were recently featured in a JetBlue spot with director Josh Nussbaum, a live TV performance and interview on "Something to Offer" with host Ann Marie Offer and an international radio broadcast for Centanni Broadcasting Network with host Johnny Mandolin. The NYCity Slickers regularly play all over New York City including NYC's premier venues: Rodeo Bar, Rockwood Music Hall, Spike Hill, Banjo Jim's, Mean Fiddler, the Jalopy Theatre, Iguana Club, Workshop Theatre, and the Zipper Theatre. In addition to these performance venues, The NYCity Slickers also have performed their gospel repertoire for church services in the NY and NJ area.
