We are so overwhelmed by the support we’ve received since the last update! We are almost within $15K of our goal with just 6 days left to go.

We have finished the first DVD and are close to finishing the second. Ricki will be filming a tour of LA’s Sanctuary Birth Center tomorrow and we are editing away in New York!
There is a lot to get accomplished this summer, but our success on Kickstarter has been a huge inspiration and motivator. We have especially loved the personal messages and comments that we’ve received from you all.
There has been some exciting news in the birth world lately: Ricki wrote a fantastic blog for Huffington Post last week and recent articles on CNN.com and Huffpo mention “The Business of Being Born.” Clearly, there is a quiet revolution happening in the birth world as more and more women are learning about their options and reclaiming the birth experience. We are so honored to have played even the smallest role in this movement.

You played a big role in my birth experience, too. Watching your film convinced my husband about natural childbirth and he turned out to be an incredible support for me. He was my birth coach, for sure, and it turned out to be a HUGE bonding experience for us. Thank you! I can't wait to watch your new DVDs and to share them with friends.

I just have to tell you this lovely thing, Ricki and Abby: today I met with a woman who is looking for a doula (I am a professional doula, and she is in the process of interviewing different ones right now). I asked her what led her to the point of even knowing what a doula is, and how she got onto the path she is on. She told me the most fabulous thing: that one day before she was even expecting--was not even planning to have a baby at this point--she ended up watching The Business of Being Born on Netflix. She just happened upon it, and watched it. She said it changed her whole outlook on birth and it has informed her entire outlook on birth and giving birth. Just wanted to let you ladies know how far and wide your work is influencing mamas out here in the great big world. I felt so proud of you as I listened to her! You started her on this path to empowerment. WAY TO GO!!!
