I am a big fan, hearing Ricki talk about having a doula many years ago inspired me to get a doula for my third child in 2008, and it was a very satisfying experience. I am now a Doula myself and enjoy helping other women. HOWEVER...I was super excited about seeing this first part with Ina May Gaskin, but I ended up being a little disappointed. I found it to be alot about Ricki's starstruck-ness regarding her and could have had a little more meat to it. For the cost of the rental, I was hoping for a bit more. Hoping that the next 3 episodes will be more educationally slanted...Sorry, don't mean to offend, just honest opinion here.

We just had our first baby on July 1st at a birthing center in Austin, TX. Everything went great and I have to say that watching your movie before our birth really gave us the confidence to have a wonderful birth experience. Thanks for sharing important information about the misinformation on birth that is being spread around the US. Love to you guys!

Love & Support from Romania! I am Ana Maita, a young mother of 2 and the first woman in Romania who dared to challenge the outdated and in medical system by planning and succeeding to have two absolutely glorious homebirths - unfortunately the system here is even more resistant to change than in the US but the CHANGE is coming - sisters are doing it for themselves so to speak. We have founded the NGO Mothers for Mothers and we are making our voices heard loud and clear! We are happy to support your project as your work has been a true inspiration for us!

I'm so excited to be a supporter of this amazing project. I'm a birth and postpartum doula and hope to be a homebirth midwife one day. I've had two wonderful home waterbirths as well. I tell everyone I know about The Business of Being Born and I'm extremely excited for these next 4 films. You really are reaching so many women (and men too). I just had my 19 year old sister watch The Business of Being Born and she thanked me and told me she loved it and that it totally changed the way she thought about birth. She said that when the time comes for her to have kids, she wants to do it at home naturally! It's so great to educate young women on their choices way before they even think about having kids. Before your film, the only births my sister had seen were the ones on tv that consist primarily of women getting epidurals, being hooked up to tons of machines, having every intervention in the book, and pushing on their back. They need to know that this is not the only way to bring a baby into the world. I can't wait till October and I'd love to show the films to all my friends and moms in my weekly playgroup. Congrats on reaching your goal and beyond!

I'm so happy to be a part of this. Ricki and Abby, your work to spread the word educating women about their birth choices is so important. Thank you for making More Business of Being Born. Like so many others have commented, watching your film changed my life. It's what flipped that switch, that turning point in my pregnancy when I went from having my head in the sand, scared and blindly "trusting my doctor," to questioning typical hospital birth, finding out what other options I had, and eventually choosing a natural, unmedicated hospital birth. Now that I've had that experience, it will be easy for me to plan my next birth at home, but for the rest of the American women, pregnant for the first time, or still with their heads in the sand, we desperately need more mainstream sources for this information! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

I had a c-section for breech with my first and then an awesome, easy Hypnobabies VBAC (after successful ECV) with my second two years ago. I am now a doula and a Hypnobabies Instructor. It shouldn't be such a struggle to get true VBAC support, or at the very least , an accurate discussion of the risks.

My second I took control because I knew there had to be a better way. I did it with naturally with my Husband, Midwife, and Doula at my side, and had the most amazing and beautiful experience of my life!!! Thank you guys for doing this. So so important. I have it posted all over www.thegreenmama.com. I had my first baby at home in Chicago. As a writer and researcher, I started writing about the medicalization of birth and lack of options in that state. Then I met Jennifer Block and then you guys. Last year I had my second baby at home in Canada. Here doing it at home is much easier and more accepted, yet still over 30% of women are having cesareans. I realize that as a culture in this country we are giving up our idea that women should have options around birth and that birth matters. Thank you for helping change the culture. It really really matters and you are really making a difference!

Before I watched The Business of Being Born I was incredibly ignorant about the whole birth process. I thought that I was *supposed* to get an epidural and just get the whole awful thing over with. Thanks to the film and website, my doula Giuditta, the nurse midwives at UCLA Ronald Reagan, my husband Sean, and of course my son Ripley, we had a wonderful and natural experience. Next time, if there is one, I plan to do it at home! I am thrilled that you are continuing your good work in educating and supporting mothers and families.

My best friend turned me on to the BoBB when my husband and I decided we wanted a child. I am so excited about the new DVD's as we are now trying to conceive baby #1 and we really want to have a natural home birth. I think this project is so important in the education of home birthing and midwifery. I am a die hard homeopathic who is always looking for the "natural way" of things and this has just fit in so well with our lifestyle and way of thinking! I sincerely hope that the goal is met so this information can be made available! Best of luck and keep up the great work!

The BOBB was instrumental in showing me exactly what kind of birth I wanted. I am a proud mother of a 4 month old baby boy. He was born at home with a midwife. I remember when I was going through transition recalling the words of Cara, Ricki and all the women you filmed. I just kept thinking "they did it and so can I". I achieved the birth I wanted for myself and my baby thanks to you and your work! I can't wait to see more.

I am thrilled you are expanding this amazing project. I hope it continues to open eyes and encourage people to ask questions. One day I hope you can broaden your scope and look at the reality of birthing in third world countries where 358,000 mothers and more than 800,000 newborns die, and an estimated 1.2 million babies are stillborn each year because of a lack of midwives and an absence of doctors.
