OUR PROJECT: The one we have in mind is called "Cheat Cheat Bang Bang." It's about Clara and Todd, a twenty-something couple who discover they've both cheated on each other and need to decide whether they should break up or go as a hot dog and hot dog bun to the Halloween party as planned.
"Cheat Cheat Bang Bang" is a story from the mind of Rhea Bozzacchi, a recent Columbia College graduate and associate producer at Fulton Market Films, who co-wrote it for the the screen with Scott Smith, who will also be directing the film.
In the past five years, award-winning director, Scott Smith, has shot well-over 12 short films, documentary feature, "Being Bucky," and a Super Bowl spot. His shorts have played at festivals such as SXSW, Tribeca, and Palm Springs International. He was also, one of the three directors chosen out of poll of almost 2,000 directors for the last installment of PROJECT GREENLIGHT, Ben Affleck and Matt Damen's filmmaking competition.
Adam Shalzi is a working film and theatre actor from Chicago. He attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he earned a BFA in acting. Since graduating college, he has focused a large portion of his acting endeavors on independent and student films. He has a scene in the Tribeca Film, Janie Jones, and the film was an official selection of the Toronto International Film Festival and the Tribeca Film Festival. The film screened nationally in theatres and became available on Showtime and Netflix. The shorts, Lenny Morris vs. The Universe (lead), Educating Cooper, and Under Water (lead) have combined credits that include the Vancouver International, NYC International, Sacramento International, DC Shorts, Santa Barbara International, and the Feel Good Film Festivals. Lenny Morris was the winner of the 2011 Columbia College best alumni short film and appeared in non-competitive screenings at the Chicago International Film Festival and Sundance. Other film credits include Dropping The Question (Audience Favorite award in Chicago’s 48 Hour Film Project), The Nest, Boozehound (3net TV demo), and multiple shorts with Columbia College, Northwestern University, and Tribeca Flashpoint Academy. He was also seen in a nationally televised White Castle commercial and has appeared in various web ads. His theatre credits include Goodman, Next, American Theatre Company, Strawdog, Profiles, Sideshow, Redtwist, The State, Emerald City, Illinois Shakespeare Festival, and an Australia/Canada tour. He is a member of the Playground Theater improv team, K.C. Redheart, and has studied improv at The Second City Chicago and at the Annoyance. For more on Adam, please visit www.adamshalzi.com
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP: Most people make films like this for fun and experience. We've found when you have fun making a short, you'll have a great experience. But sometimes, fun things cost money: for rentals, wardrobe, costumes, location fees, and of course food for actors and crew. So we're asking for your help. And in return, we are offering you the chance to share the fun of film-making.
Special Needs premiered at the World of Comedy International Film Festival, and has been in seven festivals since. The short has also been playing on Funny or Die for over three years, keeping up a 86% approval rating. Along with an award from the the Los Angeles Reel Film Festival, actors, Brad Morris and Emily Wilson have each been nominated for Best Actor and Best Actress respectively.
A Certain Breed
A Certain Breed recently won the Illinois Shortcuts Short Film competition as well as the Best Short Film at the Midwest Independent Film Festival awards. Once again, written by and starring, Brad Morris and Emily Wilson, A Certain Breed has played The Chicago International Film Festival, as well as the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in both Montreal and Chicago.
Who doesn't want to see a movie about Mascots? Being Bucky, follows seven college students who play Bucky Badger, the ubiquitous mascot at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. It won the Best Documentary Feature at the 2010 Wisconsin Film Festival, had a limited theatrical release and has been screened coast to coast from Los Angeles to Boston.
