About this project

The FAMiLab Hackerspace/Makerspace/Artspace in Central Florida is dedicated to reducing the population of Secret Agents in Florida. If you are from Florida, or know anyone from Florida, chances are that you've heard of our secret agent problem. Party-goers can hardly walk out of The Social without watching five well-dressed men ascend the adjacent buildings by their zippo-lighter zip-lines.

Well, those zip lines and grappling hooks may be imaginary, but they have REAL CONSEQUENCES for business owners and evil geniuses. With your donations, we will create objects that could (feasibly) be used to remove secret agent hooks from buildings, and we will make traps baited with Golden Guns to capture remaining Secret Agents. We also have heard reports of, and will conduct research into the possibility of spade-ing and neutering your Secret Agent, so as to limit to needless loss of life.

(but really)

A laser engraver is a cheaper solution to industrial fabrication than a full laser cutter or cnc router, and can be used to mass-produce cheap parts for MakerBots and RepRaps to precise measurements. it only takes $1600 to $1700 to afford one for our hackerspace open-to-the-public lab in Altamonte Springs.

FAMiLab is a profitless community-based art and technology collective running out of Orlando, Fl (i.e. a hackerspace). The ultimate goal of the FAMiLab is to provide a safe space where hackers, makers, and crafters can wield their imagination in any way they see fit. Think of the FAMiLab as a club for geeks! Be ye art geek, LARP geek, code geek, lab geek, or any geek in between–we would like you to join us at the lab and teach a workshop, lead a lecture, or simply work on a project while surrounded by awesome people. If you can think it, and can find the supplies, it’s fair game at the lab.
