First feature from Dublin based film-maker Robert Manson.
What is this film?
Dublin Berlin follows a young man, Oisín, who travels to Berlin with his band, buzzing with the potential of a tour and escape from his troubled family life. Oisín meets Sabine, a pretty young Berliner, who shows him the secret places that belong to the city. The band loses patience with him and moves on. He decides to stay.
Oisín’s willful escapism is thrown into a tailspin when Sabine reveals that she has a boyfriend and must return to her real life. Things take an even darker turn when bad news from Ireland reaches him. He’s lonely, homesick and broke. His path becomes one of determined self destruction. It takes an act of great intervention to save him from the void.
Why should you support this project?
Because it can't be made without you! Ireland is drowning in debt and the arts and film funding schemes have suffered terribly. We believe in this project. We want to make this beautiful story with this talented collection of artists who are all ready and rearing to go. We're asking you to donate as much as you can to do what Ireland can't at the moment - support its young artists and help them reach their full potential.
Because it's a worthy project. It's ambitious, it's collaborative, it's international. It's relevant, telling the story of a young musician looking outside of Ireland for answers; something that is happening on a daily basis in Dublin. It will be beautiful, exploring the urban colour of both cities.
Because our rewards are good! Have a look...
Because the Mayans could be right and we have to be quick or there'll be no film at all!

Gareth is currently operating out of his own studio, whilst maintaining his personal passion for playing, recording and producing music of his own. He is also an avid collector and user of vintage analogue equipment, which is frequently used in his work.

How can you make a feature film for $7,000?
The money we raise on Kickstarter will provide 25% of our overall budget. This might still seem like a very small sum but we are taking a big dollop of inspiration from British Filmmaker Shane Meadows, who has championed a new form of "low to no budget" filmmaking in the UK.
Meadows' producer describes making their first feature Dead Man's Bones "One of the key things was that we knew from day one what our budget limits were. We knew that we had to shoot it all on location and we had to have relatively new actors. We decided we'd use however many crew we could fit into the biggest minibus we could find."
How does Kickstarter work?
Kickstarter is a platform that helps creative people crowd fund innovative projects. In exchange for every donation received the donor receives a reward. The project has a target goal and a strict deadline and if the full amount isn't raised in time no money changes hands; we get $0 and your credit card won't be charged.
After a pledge, when do I receive my reward?
As soon as possible! We'll keep everyone updated. Follow us on twitter to keep an eye on what's happening in production.
If I'm not in the U.S. can I still pledge?
Anyone from anywhere can donate at any time using a valid credit card!
Where can I learn about the project?
Lots of places, the website www.dublinberlin.com, Facebook and Twitter.
Have a question? If the info above doesn't help, you can ask the project creator directly.
