Update #34: Night of the Punks World Premiere!
Hey Kickstarter,
In a few hours I'm hopping a plane and heading to Louisville, KY for the first public screening of NOTP at The Fright Night Film Fest! Should be a fun time.
Wanted to thank you all again for helping get the movie made and to this point. I can't wait for you all to see it. If you're Los Angeles local, make sure to mark your calendars for Sat August 21st... A screening party is in the works. I'll be sending out DVDs to you all pretty soon, so if you're not LA local, make sure I have your mailing address so I can get it to you!
To keep up with everything, head to http://www.nightofthepunks.com and follow our Tumblr/Twitter/Facebook/etc.
Thanks!
-Dan
Update #33: Post Production Update!
Hey Kickstarter!
I haven't updated the Kickstarter blog in a while, since shooting really. If you wanna follow all the behind the scenes, you should really follow our Tumblr production blog at http://irrationalfilms.tumblr.com.
Either way, wanted to drop a quick update. The edit is locked, we're working on the final stages of post-production (music, audio mix, visual FX, color correction) and it feels like it's going well. The short turned out to be 19 minutes long with credits, which is cool. I wouldn't mind it being a minute or two shorter, but I'm really glad it came out under 20 minutes. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Of course, there's things I'd like to see done differently, shots I'm not sure about, performances I wish I'd directed better, etc etc. But that's to be expected. All in all, I think it's a funny, quick, enjoyable horror-comedy short film that showcases how far I've come as a filmmaker and what I could potentially do with more time, money, resources, etc.
Thanks again to all y'all out in Kickstarter land for the support! The crew definitely appreciated it. We ate well, we got all our shots ready and I didn't keep anyone too far over my wrap times!
Look for a Los Angeles premiere in the summertime, and hopefully lots of film festivals to follow!

Update #32: Thanks Again!
Hey Backers! Thanks again for your support of the project. Most of you should be getting a message requesting your mailing info for the rewards. If any of you who didn't request a reward are interested in getting a TEASER POSTER anyway, just message me with your mailing information and I'll send one your way when they go out.
Gonna try to send posters out before the holidays. The DVD's won't be available until sometime in the spring or early summer of 2010.
THANKS AGAIN!
Update #31: Robyn Parker & "scttiger08"
Thanks so much for your pledges! I don't recognize either of these names, and its always a humbling and exciting feeling to get pledges from strangers. I really appreciate it. Thanks again!

Update #30: Mike Karnell
Thanks for the $10 pledge! One teaser poster coming up. I'll be contacting people for their mailing info and getting those in the mail next week after the final tally is in! I appreciate the support!
Update #29: Joe Schell
Joe, you are truly a king amongst men. Joe is a friend of mine from the old college days. For the longest time, I thought his name was Joe O'Schell... I'm not sure why exactly. But do this day, I still want to call him O'Schell. He'll always be O'Schell to me. Thanks Joe!
Update #28: THANKS A MILLION!
We did it! Reached the goal of $1,500. This is great news. The cast & crew is going to get well fed, everyone will stay happy, and we'll crank out a great little horror flick for you all!
Big ups to ADAM CHAZEN for the last donation to put us to the top! You're the man.
And also another thanks to "Mickey Rourke" for another $50. I still don't know who you are in real life, but thank you so much for your kindness. If you happen to for some strange reason be the real Mickey Rourke, I have a cameo part for you to play.
THANKS SO MUCH EVERYONE! It means a lot to me.

Update #27: Pete!
Peter Joseph is the first kid I befriended in college. I remember being at our orientation weekend and thinking "This college is full of frat boy looking jerks" and being super bummed out. Then, I randomly met Pete. A kid with good taste in tunes, and a good attitude.
When I got back to campus for real, there was a QUEERS (old punk band) show that first weekend in DC. I was new to the city, didn't have any friends, and wasn't sure if I'd get to go. But then I found Pete and he came along with me and we became friends. We played some tunes together, and he was the funniest part of my first real "short film" in college - http://www.irrationalfilms.com/nicotine.html
Thanks so much Pete! I want to see Parrotburger live someday.

You bet! I'm glad I could help.
And the Parrotburger live band is in the works...

Update #26: Ken Ochalek!
Thanks for the pledge, dude! Ken is a talented buddy of mine who used to live out here in LA but now resides in Michigan. But he'll be in LA this weekend, so looking forward to seeing him again.
Update #25: Erica Schrag!
Gets the first teaser poster! Thanks Erica. Erica used to live with us out here in Los Angeles, but the siren song of the South called her back there. I can't blame her, I miss NC like crazy. She runs a sweet gallery/art/music space in Greenville, SC now... I'm hoping my brother's old time string band band will someday play there. check it out! http://greenvillepresents.com/
Update #24: $10 Donation Gets You This Poster!
As we reach the final week of our fundraising, we're adding a new exclusive REWARD. A ten dollar pledge will get you this fun teaser poster! Check it out. The final design may tweak slightly before printing, but this will be the general look and feel of it. Final Dimensions: 16x20.
Big thanks to Casey Pinckard for taking the photo & doing the photoshop work on it, and to Tony Caraffa for being my (somewhat begrudging) hand model.
Check out Casey's work at: http://www.caseypinckard.com/
Update #23: Kathy Stoudt!
Thanks to Kathy Stoudt for the $25 pledge. Kathy's son Christopher is helping out with the producing on NOTP. It's always cool when parents support their kids crazy plans to move out to California and make scary movies! Thanks again Kathy!
Update #22: Ineris!
Thanks for the $50 pledge! I appreciate it tons.
We're in our final two weeks of the fundraiser, with just a mere $150 left to go. I'm going to make some fun TEASER POSTERS over the next couple days, and offer them up as a reward for $5-10. They're going to look pretty cool, I think. Check back in a few. Thanks!
Update #21: Tim Geraghty
Big thanks to Tim Geraghty for the latest donation, which puts us at $1,300, a mere $200 from the goal! I've known Tim since I was like six years old. His parents house was my second home, his parents themselves were like a second set of parents. Our families did practically everything together. Dude was my closest friend for a really long time, and one of the few kids I still make an effort to hang out with when I am back in NC.
Update #20: My man Justin Johnson!
Big ups to Justin for the donation. I can honestly say that Justin Johnson is a major part of my growth as a filmmaker. Way back in the day, before YouTube, before Vimeo, before every kid in the world was posting video blogs online, I met Justin on the net during college somehow. I think it was through some kind of Collegehumor.com connection. There were a few of us making shorts and posting them online - there was me, Bobby Miller (Rigged Productions), Jake Lodwick (Blumpy) and Justin (One Trick). I remember chatting online with the three of them about various projects and sites.
Anyway, later on down the road, Justin sent me the idea for a site he was working on called Filmfights - an online bi-weekly film festival. I dug the idea, he got the ball rolling, and Filmfights became big. Through Filmfights, I've met a lot of awesome filmmakers nationwide. Some of them are friends of mine out here in LA now (Dave & Del, and all the Michigan kids who followed them out west). We all sort of grew into it together, a lot of us (myself included) going from rinky-dink stupid videos on one-chip cameras to making full fledged quality shorts. I wasn't really super involved in Filmfights submissions because I didn't really have a "group" of friends into the idea, but I did submit to a few fights here and there.
Even though I've only really hung out with Justin a handful of times, I really do consider him a close friend, and someone who's definitely been influential in helping me get to the point I'm at today. Justin's brought a lot of young talent together, and continues to do so over at IndyMogul.com. And Justin makes pretty much the best vidblogs out there today.
Keep up the good work Justin. And thanks for the support!
