Shadowfist, the Hong Kong action movie card game, is back with brand new pre-constructed starter decks for the first time in a decade!
History and Intent
Shadowfist goes all the way back to the first generation of CCGs, in the mid 90s. As the Hong Kong Action Movie Card Game, it's stood the test of time and continues to be enjoyed by gamers worldwide. Afterall, what's more fun than cyborg monkeys battling Confucian monks in downtown Kowloon while truck-driving heroes set booby traps for evil, squeaky-voiced sorcerers?
Inner Kingdom Games wants to use this Kickstarter campaign to bring Shadowfist to a new generation of gamers and action movie fans with a great new entry-point product: The Combat in Kowloon preconstructed starter deck release.
About the Game
Shadowfist is the mile-a-minute, sword-clashing, butt-kicking, Uzi-spraying, boat-exploding, car-chasing, monster-crunching, Hong Kong cinematic action card game that is so epic it would take fourteen John Woos to film and a cast the likes of Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Chow Yun Fat and Michelle Yeoh. And that's just in the first five minutes!
It's widely considered one of the finest multiplayer card games ever made, with a balanced, fun and fast-paced rules set. Combat in the game is played out realistically and all players are always in the game! Unlike other card games, multiplayer Shadowfist is not about elimination or scoring points. Players only leave the game when they run out of cards and the comeback potential is unlike any game you've ever played!
In Shadowfist, players vie for global domination, by harnessing the chi, or life force, of the world. They who control the chi flow, control life and with it, the world. Chi flow is harnessed through control of Feng Shui Sites. Like the ancient Chinese system of geomancy to help one improve life by receiving positive chi, Feng Shui sites enable their controller to influence regional dominance. This is conveyed in Shadowfist through the win condition of controlling five Feng Shui Sites to win a multiplayer game.
Combat in Shadowfist is an exciting and dynamic experience, with options for the third player to engage an ongoing attack by either joining in against the target or intercepting and supporting the defender. With such constant player interactions, Shadowfist is a wonderful game of politics, deception and misdirection.
What the Kickstarter Game Includes
The basic game includes everything a new player needs to jump into the world of Shadowfist, including:
1) Four preconstructed starter decks. One each for the Dragons, the Guiding Hand, the Ascended and the Eaters of the Lotus.
2) Poster playmats to help new players learn the layout and turn sequence of the game.
3) Stone counters to help keep track of damage, bonuses and power.
4) Comprehensive and easy-to-read rulebook, perfect for someone just jumping into the game.
At the same time, Inner Kingdom Games is releasing the first expansion to Combat in Kowloon, titled Back for Seconds. This expansion will feature two additional preconstructed starter decks, one each for the Jammers and the Monarchs.
These decks include a balance of classic, favorite cards and new, flavorful cards, in a glorious game setting where there's no such thing as first turn win and the women kick as much butt as the men!
What's next for Shadowfist
Future expansions will be released as non-randomized packs of 50 cards featuring all six factions delving into new themes and conflicts within the game storyline. Existing cards for Shadowfist will always be welcome in open formats, and players are free to engage the new environment in the non-collectable model at their leisure.
Whether you're a returning player, back from a long hiatus; a veteran Mr. Suitcase who's been playing since 1995 or a new visitor looking for a great new card game where Brass Monkeys face-off against Tech Squads and Temple Guards, this release has something for you!

Just total the amounts of the levels you like and pledge that amount, then shoot me a note letting me know which levels you wish to receive.

The support from the community has been amazing! I'm pleased to announce that less than halfway through the month, we're already just shy of the goal of $20,000!
Time for what everyone has been waiting for: Stretch Goals!
If we reach $25,000: Inner Kingdom Games will release a Kickstarter-Exclusive promo for supporters of this project. The promo will be a unique, non-aligned character playable in any deck. The character will remain exclusive to Kickstarter supporters for no less than one year. After which time, it will become available to the general public in a limited capacity (NOT POINTS FOR PROMOS). Supporters will receive one copy of the promo for supporting at the $45 level, two copies for supporting at the $90 level, five copies for supporting at the $220 level and eight copies for supporting at the $350 level or above.
If we reach $30,000: Inner Kingdom Games will release a Kickstarter-Exclusive poster to ANYONE who contributed at least $15. We will print exactly 1,000 posters and distribute all of them to kickstarter supporters, after which, the image will be retired as a poster graphic. We will distribute all 1,000 copies of the poster proportionally to all supporters according to number of supporters and amount of their pledge.
If we reach $35,000: Official Shadowfist Card Sleeves for supporters of at least $45. Each pack of sleeves will contain 50 sleeves and feature a gray scale flying kick Ting Ting image over the iconic Shadowfist fist. Supporters will receive one pack for $45 of support, two packs at the $90 level and five packs for $220 or more of support.
If it looks like we'll approach $40,000, I'll update with more stretch goals to reward our awesome supporters!
