The Rockpalast show from 1978 backing this clip was the one that cemented my passion for GP's music, a passion that hasn't waned in nearly 35 years. A fitting tribute like yours is long overdue. Hopefully he'll get the recognition he so rightfully deserves at last!

Lovely to see rock royalty like Bruce heaping praise on GP and good to know he was tuned in at the time. Can't wait to see the 'final cut'! And good luck. W.

Update #31: The Latest....
Hello all, sorry for the lack of updates but there was nothing good or bad to update. Still no confirmation of the other interviews and time is running out. We have decided to put the the posters, T-shirts etc. in production and Katherine will be sending those out mid May. I am holding out a few more weeks for these interviews and then as they say...moving on. This week we will put up a clip of Springsteen so you can get an idea of how surpisingly good that was and why I hold out that these others might be on that level. Also, we may have some good news on the international festival front, but nothing as of yet. Anyway, once the outstanding interview issue is resolved we will lock the picture and put the DVD in production and out. I'll let you all know about that by early May with a timeline of when you should be getting the DVD. Once again I appologize to anyone who may feel that they are not in the loop.

No worries. Thanks for the update. Hope you get the interviews, but if not, I'm sure we have a terrific film, worthy of GP. That's the important thing.
Hang in there! -

Please don't let the pressure from a few impatient people discourage you from continuing to make this all it can be. A DVD can hold lots of material and true fans appreciate everything you've done so far and look forward to the final product whenever it all comes together. If the higher profile of the project is opening more doors...GREAT!
What's the rush?

Update #29: Changes....
Hi everyone,
SInce the great success of the Kickstarter drive and the screening, the film has taken on a new life and a higher profile or sorts. A week ago we filmed a fantastic interview with Bruce Springsteen about what Graham Parker has meant to HIM as an artist. This would never have happened if the Kickstarter drive hadn't breathed new life into the project. The donations you all have given were what we needed to finish last summer and get that film out to you all. But as Graham is actually excited about this film, he as well as many of the people who saw it, have encourged me to push for other interviews as well as entering it into festivals. That is the path we have taken.
I understand many of you hoped to get the rewards by now. And I as well hoped to have already sent it out to you. But as I have contributed to a few projects on KS as well, I know I wouldn't want a copy of a rough cut that would change and be a very different film at the end of the filmmaking process. I would want the final cut. Perhaps I am wrong, so I am letting you all know that we are working on securing two other interviews of the level of Springsteen and this will push the dead line for the final cut back by two months. If this is not ok with any of you, please let me know. Someone has already posted some damaging comments about the film and my integrity. He will receive a full refund. But most of you people have been very supportive and your faith and understanding have been outstanding and I really appreciate that.
Anyone else who has lost faith or patience, please let me know.
Regards,
Michael

I don't mind waiting at all. As this is the 1st time I've done a KS project, and I don't know the filmmaker at all, I suppose I could be a little nervous about it. However, I spoke to Graham back in October (after a show) after he had seen the rough cut and he was very excited about it and said things were being added. Can't wait to see the end result! Oh, correction, I CAN wait!

Hi Michael. It was worth travelling 4,500 miles for a fabulous event, many memories I will cherish forever. I'm 100% behind you and want the film to be just as you (and GP, of course) want it to be. What's the point of rushing? Don't get it at all. Any doubters, just point them my way!
Cheers

Update #28: Lakeside Lounge - NYC
Update #27: UPDATE
Happy New Year to you all!!
Nothing has been sent out because everything changes when the film changes. The poster and t-shirt (which is of the poster), changes when the film changes. The title has changed slightly, and the interview lineup is changing. We will get on top of this as soon as we can. Thank you all for your patience.

I am starting to think this has been a con and we have been scammed??? Kickstarter needs to get on this immediately to maintain their reputation. The more time that passes the more skeptical I become. I think all who have contributed will need to join together to make sure all obligations are met in a timely manner, otherwise we need to TALK!!!!!!!~

Update #26: BIG NEWS
Hello everyone,
Hoping you all are doing well. The DVD release will have to be delayed due to a HUGE late inning interview score. One that I have been working ongetting for years. It will be official in the next few days and I couldn't imagine that anyone would want the dvd without this interview. I will try to get the NON DVD rewards before the years end. It has been a really hectic six weeks since the screening as we made a number of changes shot some new GP footage and Graham dug up some never before seen footage from his attic. Keep the faith as each new change is making the film better and better.
Happy Holidays to you All

Update #25: Screening and DVD update
Hi everyone,
Well, the screening was a great success! The night before, as many of you may already know, Martin Belmont, Bob Andrews and Steve Goulding of the Rumour, got together and played unannounced at the Lakeside Lounge in NYC. They played some oldies and pub rock staples before being joined on stage by Graham Parker himself. They were introduced by Dave Robinson who later remarked that he wouldn't sign them just yet but will keep an eye on them. They played a bunch of songs and sounded really really good. Hard to believe that they hadn't played together since 1979. The place was packed and spilled out onto the sidewalk. Of course, Brinsley and Andrew were missed but it was a great intro into the next night's events.
The screening was a great time. I got to meet a bunch of the great people who have donated to this project. During the meet-and-greet part of the evening everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Katherine did an amazing job organizing a great event. Graham showed up very nervous and criticized the poster title. He was right but I was pissed off just the same. (I guess I was nervous too). I started to panic thinking, "wait, if I got the title wrong...maybe I got the whole thing wrong. Maybe I suck at this." Quickly after I started to sprial into self doubt, I was asked to say a few words and introduce the film. So when I got up in front of everyone, I not only saw a bunch of people who made a great effort to be there, but they also FUNDED THE DAMN THING! And maybe it sucked. I fumbled with some akward sentences about kickstarter and thanked the donors then paused , I looked up across a sea of lost faces to see Dave Robinson staring at me with a very confussed look on his face and I knew I was bombing. I cut it short and exited stage left.
The lights dimmed, the film started and I was determined to get away from the scene of the crime as quickly as possible. I decided to leave the place until the film was over. But right as I was leaving I heard the sound of laughter...I thought wait, maybe it's not so bad after all? The laughter continued along with bursts of applause at some of the music clips and I think that in the end people seemed to love the film. Even Graham was on a high, which is what really mattered. Because when you make a film about an artist you're some how trying to give back what you have gotten from their music all these years. It's like a 90 minute "Your music is great! I'm a big fan."
When can you all see this thing???? Well Graham had a few changes which was part of our agreement at the outset. Making even little changes creates a lot of extra time consuming work on the technical side of things. Due to these changes the film will not be ready for another month. We should have all the packages shipped by mid-December. Sorry to make you all wait longer but the changes are really worth it.
Graham himself will write a note to all of you in the next week or so with some special words and recommendations. Thank you all again for all you've done to make this film a reality. It is hard to explain how heartening the whole experience has been.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all!!!

You sound like the Zero Mostel character in "The Producers"! C'mon, Michael, you kicked ass with the Ramones film, and I am sure that the GP flick is that film's equal or superior...as is the artist himself.

CONGRATS! I just wish I could have been there. You should be extremely proud of yourself.
-
James Francavilla on November 21, 2010
Michael---the film was terrific!! Go easy on yourself. I happenned to be sitting next to Dave Robinson---no doubt I'm the reason he and this may have been why he had a confused look on his face. If you looked closely you may have seen a little thought bubble atop his head with " who the heck is this bloke sitting next to me. I'm Dave Robinson!!!"
