Real excited about the Apatow movie, and patiently awaiting the final cut of the GP film!
Thanks to Dave and all of you who have posted positive reactions to the rough cut. It sounds corny but it is the greatest reward!
I got my 'rough cut' as promised, and it is fantastic. Our film (yes 'our' film) is coming along great, and we can thank Mr. Gramaglia for taking such care in its creation. I actually envy those who chose to wait for the final version, as I know it is going to be an even better, fuller and more complete picture of GP than the current draft. I look forward to happily paying to see the final cut when it is ready.
Hi. Nothing has changed since update #37 wherein I estimated the film to be finished by next spring. We have a couple of shoots to complete in the UK and New Orleans which should happen within the next 6 weeks.
Hi Michael, Will we be able to see the finished product by Christmas?
Thanks
Since it's been nearly 3 months since the last update from Michael Gramaglia, I thought it might be nice to get an update as to where things currently stand. Would it be possible to give the supporters an "ETA" for the finished DVD, or if that's not possible, at least some sort of explanation for the ongoing delay? I'd like to have a comprehensive documentary, but at the same time, this has dragged on for so long that I no longer know what to expect with regard to receiving the final version of the DVD.
I want to thank you for allowing me to have some role in the making of this film. It's simply brilliant! It gives me a much clearer understanding of Graham Parker the man. You can bet I'll be pre-ordering the finished cut when it finally becomes available. I can't wait to see what you've shot from his reunion with the Rumour. What an amazing ending that will make to an already wonderful film! Best of luck in getting it out there and in receiving the accolades you so richly deserve.
when can i expect to receive my copy?
Michael just watched the DVD received today and as one of the silent majority patiently waiting for this to arrive can I just say it was well worth the wait the film is great!! Many thanks I wish you all the success in the world with this project. GP has been part of my my musical life for the past 35 years and I have followed every twist and turn over that time. The GP revival starts here!!!
I just had the opportunity to watch the DVD received last week (thanks!!) and want to offer a heartfelt congratulations to Michael on his wonderful film. It’s very well paced, beautifully edited, and takes the high road in telling the story of this extraordinary yet underappreciated singer-songwriter of our time. Wonderful to see how great GP still looks and sounds; good thing, ‘cause I see a new audience discovering him sometime soon – in no small part as a result of the tremendous love, effort and talent displayed in "Don't Ask Me Questions." Let's raise our glasses to Michael's achievement thus far, and share a virtual toast to his finishing the film and getting a great distribution deal. Thanks & Kudos!!
Mr. Montio- I will be glad to personally send you a refund so you can apply it to something that you feel might be worthwhile-perhaps an ant farm or some Cruex for your condition.
Since everything in the gp world seems to be changing so fast, I am wondering if the theme of the movie has changed. Last we heard, the theme was that GP agreed to go commercial through Primary Wave. Or that Springsteen liked GP. As someone who has seen gp solo many times in the dark days when the five losers were trying to figure out why you were filming poorly attended shows in dinky places, I was uncomfortable with both of these concepts. My sense was that the real reason the movie was being made was that GP was so great even though so few people were listening...the Black Francis line in the original clip. I suggest you go back to the beginning, the false fame of the rock star then the undiscovered genius of our time...now it can end with his receipt of an oscar for best song, if the world finally agrees to cooperate. The theme is ...same GP through it all!
Unbelieveable! Once again, Michael, you seem to have no regard for the people that provided you the financial support you needed for the film. Here we have yet another unfulfilled promise....."so you can expect it within weeks".....that e-mail was sent September 8th. I guess, technically, ~7 WEEKS~ is still "within weeks", huh? HOW ABOUT SHOWING US SOME RESPECT?? Get it together, and get the copies of the film to us ASAP, or at least have the decency to give us some HONEST ANSWERS as to why you can't, OK?
What happened to the rough cut version?
Did anyone of those of us who decided on the rough cut version already received his/her DVD?
I"m from souf London, sold GP his Guild acoustic at Take Five music shop Shaftesbury Avenue London at 6'clock on a dark London night. Guess he just got his advance from Polygram.
Did not know who the fuck he was... Later found out!! My nemesis!
From same part of UK! Looked alike! Saying same things!! Another story!
Was close to the STIFF crowd and many great players involved.
So relax... Sit back ...many years have passed! When this film is ready..It;s ready.
Luv GP hate the fact he covered all the songs on my list!
Whatever! hats off to Gramaglia...at least he is paying attention!
Cheers

This is all I can tell you: My wife and I plunked down $1,000 to be "executive producers," and we've gotten everything promised outside of the DVD for what are now obvious reasons. We got the T-shirt, poster, went to NYC for premiere, saw the film, meet GP and 3/5 of the Rumour (my dinner mate was the very charming Martin Belmont), etc. We also met Michael and his brother and they are certainly very passionate about this project and GP. It's worth the wait.
You're still going on about this? GP knows the truth. Everything's fine. Calm down.
Hi John Howells......Why don't you want GP to know the truth?
To everyone else that feels as disgruntled as I do..... I agree that this "new news" is fantastic, but it doesn't change the shabby treatment from Gramaglia. I am no longer willing to wait for any "new & improved" film (and the "anticipated" release for this new Apatow film is not until June, 2012--IF it gets released.....never a guarantee in this business). I supported the ORIGINAL documentary, and I would really like to have a copy of it before I depart this Earth! It's what we have been promised (again, and again), but those promises just seem to keep getting broken!
Here's a link to the MusicFilmWeb.com article all about the film:
http://www.musicfilmweb.com/2011/09/graham-parker-rumour-apatow-music-film/
Please don't flood grahamparker.net with complaints, as Michael Mantlo suggests. I will just delete them as they come in.
I have been dying to tell someone about this news, but I was sworn to secrecy :)
Well I am floored! No wonder Michael wants to hold off competing the film. This changes everything. EVERYONE needs to check out Steve Goulding's interview at the link below. Do it now and any doubts you may have had will be instantly evaporated! When I read that there were some big events coming up in Graham's career, I had no idea.......
GP news at MusicFilmWeb.com as we talk to Rumour drummer Steve Goulding about upcoming projects.

Happy to wait, looking forward to seeing it in its final form.
Hey all.....Judging by the silence on this blog, I assume that none of the supporters who requested the "rough cut" of the DVD have received it yet (as I also have not). I have just sent an e-mail to GP alerting him to Michael Gramaglia's disingenuous actions. I urge ALL of you to do likewise through this link: http://www.grahamparker.net. use the "questions" tab to send comments to GP (or his team), and maybe we can actually get something done (for once)!
And Michael.....before you (or Katherine) go ballistic on me again, try to understand that we, GP's fans & supporters, don't begrudge you your quixotic fixation on creating the "perfect film".....we just want to enjoy the project that we all happily contributed to. You promised to send "rough cut" DVD's to those of us that didn't want to wait any longer......that's all we're asking for. Please honor your commitments.
The situation Michael is in sounds all too familiar for a film project of this genre. So common for a documentary -- that the subject has some involvement with -- to go through final stage enhancements. I have no problem waiting for the finished directors cut, and I totally understand. Documentary film making is hell. I appreciate your efforts Michael.
I'm thankful that Michael took the time to add some exciting new footage to the film (such as the Springsteen interview and Rumour reunion). I'm also happy to hear that GP is working on some exciting new projects, which I'm certain to be following with great interest. However I think we need to draw a line between the film as a historical document and Graham's continuing career. This is why I would prefer to receive a copy of the DVDs that were already ordered. I may regret this choice later, but if so I will simply buy a copy when it becomes available as a commercial release. I don't feel like I'm being "jerked around" and I honestly believe Michael wants nothing more than to release the best possible film about a great artist whom we both admire.
Is anyone else out there as perplexed as I am about the way this whole thing has gone down?
I've been going back and forth with Katherine (Michael's assistant?) in e-mail, and really feel as if my chain is being jerked mightily.
I think it's time this gets brought out into the open in this "comments" section, so we can all join in the discussion.
I'm totally dissstisfied at this point, and am wondering how many other backers feel the same way?
Please log in, and make your feelings known.
I'm sorry Graham, but what should have been a wonderful tribute to your career seems to be turning into a cynical farce.
Willing to wait for the final cut. Got the T-Shirt a week back. Looks great.
I'm happy to wait. I'm glad new doors keep opening to add to the film. I signed up to see the best documentary made about a great and under appreciated artist. Just wish I could do more, I'm among the 23 % underemployed, underemployed, discouraged etc so my contribution however small was a stretch. Keep on searchin' for that fool's gold ;-}

My T shirt arrived today, all the way to Perth in West Australia, very much overdue, but very much appreciated also.I hope the movie goes well, congrats to everyone who put in to make it happen, even more so to Michael and his team.Well done! I'll wear my shirt with pride,
Gordon
I think I speak for many "donors" when I say that the trinkets are OK but that is not why we gave. Many among us believe that GP is among the greatest artists of our age and it is sad that he is not better known. His work has inspired me and captivated me and I think he could do that for many others with the right push, which I hoped this movie might do. Now the focus sems to be on the trinkets...to borrow a phrase...Spanish Boots from Spanish Leather.
Well so far all I received was a t-shirt, I did not receive poster, email, postcard and my name better be on the DVD since my contribution was over the asking price for this sort of drive!
The poster came today and looks incredibly great! I'm going right out and have it professionally framed.
Hey, Michael, back in April you promised a mid-May email that would identify the date(s) when pledgers' "goodies" would be sent out. Still waiting on that. I admire "everyone's" patience on this entire matter, but shit, it's soon getting on a year. Would we be so forebearing if this were anybody other than Graham, and would the Chairman himself be as understanding as we are about this unrelenting crawl of a process?
thanks for the comment Boiron, seems to make the gig shake something loose, maybe soon after 4 festivals and no entry about time not sure what these interview will tell Graham's fan we don't already know
This silence is rather puzzling. I understand that « art takes time », but it would be nice to hear from someone that the project is still alive. A “monthy report” (even one line…), as previously suggested would be great. As I understand the project, I also understand those who are impatient and don’t understand the silence…
JM Boiron
Hey Michael. You nice boys have put out great projects in the past. There is no rushing greatness. I have been here, as a GP fan, for 32 years so what's another couple of months. Besides I have a great idea for your next project.....I will swap you the movie for it!!! Take your time and love your project...I am sure we will.
I'm very excited about the film this project is becoming and have no problem waiting as long as it takes. However, with the rumblings and complaints occurring it might be a good idea to post some sort of monthly report on the progress of the film. It needn't be more than a couple of sentences, just what they're working on at the moment and perhaps a "guesstimation" of a completion date (which could be readily changed). I think this would appease the impatient and provide some some interesting tidbits to build anticipation for the rest of us.
Art takes time. No rush. Thank you for seeing the bigger picture. Sounds like it will be better than ever and will make true fans happier.
No worries. You've done everything right so far; don't stop now. It's a shame that some people don't understand the process, the love and care that you're putting into this film, but don't let that taint the project. Good things are worth the wait and Graham deserves as much attention as you can draw to him. Let us know if there's anything more we can do.
Is this gonna b the official poster?
Finish it when you finish it and make it the best it can be!
Any chance we can change the size on the t-shirts we requested?
I am a big fan of both Springsteen and Parker. I was hoping that the interview was going to be
with Bruce. He seems to take these things seriously, and I think it will be worth the wait.
Dylan would be great too. Good luck finishing things up.
Great news. Getting big names may attract more attention to GP. Well worth the wait. Life gets better.
No problem, if the delay means for a better film then patience is required !!!
Looing forward to it that's for sure
Congratulations on the Springsteen interview! I know how long documentaries like this can take. It's a long, laborious process of putting all the pieces together until at last... you know you've made the best film you can make. I know the wait will be worth it.
Thanks for all the updates you've posted to Kickstarter. I always feel like I know what's going on with the project. All I have to do is click the "Updates" tab on the Kickstarter page. The updates are also emailed to the address I registered with Kickstarter.
Thanks for the update, Michael. The Springsteen interview sounds like a real coup and will surely only improve the film - and burnish GP's reputation further still (which is the whole point of the project, after all). I'm sure we're all impatient to see the film, but I for one am happy to wait until you're happy.
I will demand a refund if nothing is done very soon and will contact Amazon about it.
What's going on?? I have received nothing. Kickstarter hasn't informed me of anything. I believe they should at the very least contact us about the project. I don't have anything for the money I invested. If there is a problem then refund the money.
