What is Extreme Lowrider HD Remix?

Extreme Lowrider HD Remix is about the cars, the story, and the characters. We are developing important game play mechanics around the car choices and the surrounding world. Players will be able to get funkay fresh in their ride, while exploring the universe that is ELHDR. The game is an adventure game based in an urban environment in a vast and deep city. The game offers both a unique art style and a comedic story. ELHDR is a game designed to be interesting, different, and humorous for all players. Get your hands ready to dive in some real lowriding, and experience what it is like to be an Extreme Lowrider.

The game itself is a blend between our styles and humor. All three of us have always wanted to develop a project that we can be proud to share with the world. Extreme Lowrider HD Remix is that project. The game graphics are unique, and the game play will try its hand at innovation by blending several different classic styles of gaming. The game will be a hybrid of an rpg with open world elements, but don’t be afraid, because unlike hybrid cars, our game will be cool.  

The game has been brainstormed to be similar to Sonic CD, Megaman, and a little bit of Zelda thrown in. There’s different cars that do different things and help with different missions. It’s going to be fully open world. So far we have been using the torque engine, but are thinking about switching over to udk to take advantage of the dynamic lighting. We would still have it be 2d at heart. 

A Little History:

It started back in 2007 as a “low-rider” adventure game made with a few friends. We recieved fame locally, but never achieved the large status we aspired. It’s still early at its core development, but we feel we have the potential to release a product that could achieve such a status.

We are a 3 man team starting up on this game developing project. We have a member who is both an animator, web designer, and editor. We have another who is a musician and C++ coder. And finally I am an art major. We were all best friends from high school, and we were all desperate to release a product of both our comedy and artistic expression. So we decided to combine our talents to create: Extreme Lowrider: HD Remix.

The Game itself is uniquely designed. We grew up in the 90s and heavily draw our inspiration from the humor and art of this era. The characters, npcs, and levels are all designed with paper newsprint style models with the cars being designed with basic computer graphics. The game is a hybrid rpg with an open world.

The game, as you can tell from the name, will be a comedy at heart.

We are deciding between a couple engines based on the kind of gameplay we want to offer, but are currently working with the torque 2d engine.

The cars’ hydralics will play a big part in the gameplay, and could help with the platform aspect.We have always wanted to share our humor and ideas and such with other gamers, and we felt this was a good platform to do so.
