About this project
Come August 1st, our bands Bird Call and Johanna & The Dusty Floor will be embarking on a 30-day national tour. We realize that to execute an efficient & productive tour one needs a healthy sum of money. We have budgeted accordingly, taking into consideration the various expenses that a touring musician commonly needs to spend. We have decided to raise $5,000 to fund our van rental, payment to band mates, GAS, food, beds, PR campaign & merchandise. We believe strongly in our fans and are confident that with an effective promotional campaign and budget we can meet the $5k goal, if not, surpass it, within the allotted time given to us by Kickstarter. Please help us tour this beautiful country come August 2011! Hooty hoo!

Digitally released May 24th of 2011, Other Creatures, Bird Call’s new EP of cover songs, is the work of Brooklyn musician, Chiara Angelicola and famed producer Joel Hamilton, who previously produced Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, and The Black Keys. This is Bird’s second collaboration with Hamilton, having previously released The Animals Know EP less than a year ago under the artist’s own label (FHC Records, September 2010).
Both The Animals Know and Other Creatures have garnered Angelicola an extensive amount of reviews, showcases, label interest, and a LA Music Award nomination for Hot Adult Contemporary Album. Bird Call also recently won First Place in the Performance Category of the 2010 International Songwriting Competition for her song "Waltz in the Snow" with judges including Tom Waits, Peter Gabriel, and others. Following an opening slot for The Tallest Man on Earth at the legendary Fillmore in San Francisco, Angelicola also performed her first ever month-long residency in Brooklyn January 2011. Bird Call has also managed to perk the interest of The Deli NYC, who’s editors nominated her as the #1 Emerging Artist of 2010. With an average of 400 digital downloads a month on iTunes USA alone, Bird Call continues to glisten as an independent artist in the music world.
