August Ruins for solo cello CD.

August Ruins for solo cello is a suite of six works and is a culmination of two years composing and several U.S. concert performances to date. This set of works reflects both the times we are living in and many of my experiences traveling to remote places around the world and the musical ideas that have developed as a result.

These modern works are written with an extensive use of cello technique and create a musical atmosphere at once expansive, dramatic and original. I've engaged the stellar cellist Paige Stockley to record this large set of works totaling over 50 minutes of music.

Three of the six works have been recorded to date at Jack Straw Productions here in Seattle. The remaining three works are scheduled to be recorded through November of this year.

I have been in discussion with several labels about releasing August Ruins. The Parma label is offering support to release and market August Ruins with international distribution, and arrangements are in the works for the final recording to be released in the winter of 2013.

Ahead, there are multiple recording and editing sessions, mastering, performer fees, CD artwork by the very talented Sean Waple and promotional costs associated with the label. All of this needs funding. I am seeking to raise a minimum of $3500, but expenses are still greater. Right now, all of the elements of this project are ready to move forward, only the funding is lacking.
