Good Afternoon to You All,
This week I have experienced some frustration. I was elated when my copies of the book arrived to be shipped out to the backers who chose the book reward, however, in this box there were only nine copies, eight of which were nearly destroyed and water damaged, thus not fit to send out. The publisher blames UPS for the damage, but the quantity still has yet to be resolved. I have been going back and forth with them all week trying to get the correct amount of pristine copies ASAP. I am very troubled by this dilemma, as I have never put more time and meticulous planning into trying to do something right in my life...
I feel terrible that you, as backers, have to be part of this dilemma, for it is you all that believed in this project from day one. I am disheartened to say the least and compose this email with embarrassment. I wish there was some code I could give you for Amazon to get a free copy faster than I can provide to the ones I owe one to. But this is simply not the case. I am truly sorry, although I still feel I can have the books shipped to you near middle September as promised before. I suppose I "jumped the shark" in the previous update when I was going off the tracking number from UPS and expected the quantity to be correct.
In other news, the sales on Amazon have been going well. I have spent the majority of the last two weeks networking and marketing with book clubs, bloggers, reviewers, and small time media outlets. It has been exhausting but incredibly fun at the same time. When the book was first listed it started at around 6,000,000 on the best sellers list. It has gotten as high as 27,002 on the best sellers list since and has sat at around 37,000 consistently for the last few days. The greatest sense of accomplishment came when the book reached 22 on the memoirs and grief and bereavement category. It was then listed as a "Hot New Seller" on the Amazon website. I was just a few scrolls down from Mitch Albom's "Tuesdays with Morrie" which is one of my favorties. It was, to say the least, a pretty good feeling.
Because the initial sales were technically "pre-orders" I sincerely hope to have the tangible copies to you at the same time they arrive for the common purchaser. I will be sending out the surveys today for the contact info to send the people who chose the book award today to be prepared to head straight to the post office upon receiving the copies at my home.
Again, I apologize for this mishaps, it was out of my control, yet i do feel responsible. To compensate I would like to offer all of you the eBook file if you would like to email me at email@example.com Although it does not contain the cover image, it does contain the content of the book and you could be reading it by tomorrow if you have an iPhone, Ipad, Kindle, NOOK or any eReader. You can also open this PDF file on your computer and read, or print out, although I still know this is not the same as I mentioned in my last update.
I am working my hardest to get this situation resolved and hope that all of you can understand what a frustration and disappointment this was for me. Please feel free to send me an email and I will respond with this PDF file. I thank you all...
